If they do do this at the Big House, I would anticipate that Michigan will also have a game there. If you're going to build the outdoor rink, you might as well get maximum usage out of it. At Fenway, when the Bruins and Flyers played in the WInter Classic, they also had some of the local college teams play. They got more usage out of the facility. Now, it might be different in Ann Arbor where a game can create traffic problems and what not. However, it's not unforeseeable where the Big House hosts both a Wings outdoor game and a Michigan outdoor game.

This would not be known until after everything was set in stone, but what if they decide to host the game at Michigan Stadium and Michigan plays in a New Year's Day bowl that year?  Is that something DB has to consider in negotiations?

With there being a good chance Michigan will be playing a bowl game on that future Jan. 1, I gotta think that will cut down on the interested parties.

Red Berenson did play for the Wings.  The GLI is played at the JLA.  The CCHA championship is also played at the JLA.  So, there are plenty of connections between U of M and the Wings.  DB is willing to rent out the Big House for weddings, why not TWC with the Wings playing an Original 6 team.  Other than the Blackhawks, because they have already played at the shit hole on the northside.  The game would be a sellout and if it did set a new record for attendance it would still be at the Big House.
