The real test for Denard begins

Submitted by WolverineEagle on
He has shredded bad defenses thus far. MSU, Iowa, and PSU will tell us if DR is for real. I do expect some struggles and his numbers will go down, but if he legit than the offense should still hum.

him go against those defense to know he's legit.  He's probably not going to get ridiculous numbers like today against those teams, but he'll get plenty.

MSU, Iowa, and PSU haven't exactly looked great on defense themselves.  Watching Iowa against PSU is making me feel good about those games.  PSU looks horrible, and I'm being reminded that Iowa always plays with 2 deep safeties and should be out manned in out run game.

...none of the above mentioned teams will stop him - on the ground or in the air.  The better question is: Can he put up enough numbers to make up for what the Defense gives up?

...far more about our defense, or lack thereof, than Denard and the offense. Even though he has posted ridiculous numbers thus far, I think most B10 teams will underestimate him both in terms of speed and his decision making. They'll all be in denial mode:  "He was good against Indiana, but there's no way he'll do that to us!" I predict more amazing stuff and lots of points. But can we keep our defense off the field? Don't know.

I think teams will increasingly force Denard to pass and take away his run option with more "eight in the box" schemes.

First player in HISTORY to pass for 200+ yards, and rush for 200+ yards twice in a season.    If it is so easy to do, it would have been done before.

It's getting irritating to hear haters say things like "sure but he hasn't played anyone yet," as if you could throw any stiff into that offense and he would be putting up these numbers. Well I'm sure that White, Vick, Young etc faced a few suspect defenses too, so why didn't they put these kinds of numbers?

I dunno.  What Denard and co are doing seems to be pretty repeatable.  Maybe not the long plays for touchdowns, but piling up yards and points yes.  The O line has performed well and the receivers are blocking and making plays.  The sample size now has grown to five games.  The numbers say fantastic.  The patterns say M can do it over and over again.  It's the spread with an amazing playmaker at quarterback.

One of the keys is that opposing defenses have no way of preparing for him. He looks like he could be the fastest player in the Big Ten... just so happens he can complete passes at 70% while rushing for 200 yards a game. The only way I can see containment of him is a defensive line that can control the Michigan O-line.

MSU will be the hardest defense we've faced all year. Fortunately, they're not very good. Their LB corp is excellent, but their secondary is terrible and their run defense ovearll is meh. It will definitely be a test, but I think Denard will pass with flying colors.

WTF? I got news for you, pal: we might lose all three games, and that won't change a goddamn thing: Denard Robinson is for real. If you haven't figured that out by now, there's no hope for you.

MSU's secondary is probably one of the worst in the conference so don't see them stopping Shoelace through the air which will open up running lanes for him. Simply put there is no stopping him, you can only hope to contain him.

.....is like  twying to cwontain a bag full of wabbits that just dwopped open wight in fwont of you. Oh, and those wascally wabbits just so happen to know how to pway exceptwional catch with a footbawll.

The fact that our fastest wabbit can wifle a pass - on a dime - ON THE WUN - makes it awll the more difficulwt to contwain (and spectwacular to see!!).
