Ready for Football Season
I just drove home for lunch and passed the local high school where the sound of marching band sent my football readiness status to DefCon 1.
I've seen the "21 days to.." posts and all the embedded images of practice, but nothing has gotten me amped up for the upcoming season and fall in general like hearing that marching band play just now (of course it helps that the weather is flat-out beautiful as I'm typing this). I'm curious, if there have been any subtleties for the rest of the MGOUsers, whethere its been College Football Live on the WWL or anything else that have made you feel like the presents are wrapped and under the tree...

Slightly new to posting... Do you know how I can delete the double post?
August 21st, 2009 at 12:12 PM ^
don't think you can delete it, just edit the title to say something like "sorry double post"
August 21st, 2009 at 12:13 PM ^
most sane people here do not care. I merely took advantage of an opportunity to amuse myself.
I think you can change the title to say "ignore-double post" or something like that, but I'm pretty sure only the forum moderators can delete stuff.
Edit: see you fixed that. Nice work, there. You are now a seasoned posting vet.

watching Jason Avant play yesterday for the Eagles. No joke, the first time I saw him make a catch last night I yelled out "He's from Michigan" (i'm on the east coast with non-M fans)... my heart rate increased and hasn't gone down since.

East Coast, All Day! Up here in CT it seems like I'm the only UM fan, everyone else seems to not care at all, and those who follow College Football have jumped up on the Longhorns bandwagon

DOUBLE POST...DOUBLE POST...DOUBLE POST...UNACCEPTABLE!!!
I'm part of the insane group that does care about double posts. I also never post sarcastic comments like this one.

Since I can't start my own thread I'll hijack this one.
It looks like Illinois's CB Thomas tore his ACL and is going to miss the entire season. I'm not positive if he was going to be a sure starter (he missed last year with a knee injury) but it will definitely hurt their depth.

Then I say keep burning that side and you'll have a sweet Halloween costume as Two-face from Batman.

I'm ready for football to start when the NBA play-offs end and I'm stuck with MLB for the summer.

I consider college football my hobby, but over the last couple weeks, I've been getting pumped. I live near one of the high schools here in Toledo and I can see the football field from my front porch.
Every evening as I'm getting home from work the team is on the field. The first game is next Friday night. In my nieghborhood it's like a mini college atmosphere. I charge $5 to let people park in my driveway.
The chilly fall nights, the sound of the marching band, even the guy on the crappy PA system. Man, it's so close. You can feel it in the air. I can't wait, it needs to get here faster.

Sweet! What H.S. do you live by?
I live near Southview and I can hear their practices and what not, while the girlfriend lives within earshot of Rogers.
Should be a fun City and NLL season on Friday nights.

the old building. The football field is still there though.

haha no way, I went to Southview. They went from 0-10 my freshman year to 10-0 and 9-1 my junior and senior years...always made the NLL fun to follow.

I got incredibly excited when my grandparents told me to sit down during Sunday dinner... felt just like the Big House!

hilarious. Nice.

Where I am, (Holland), it's overcast and a little chilly, with a hint of rain in the air. It reminds me of a typical Michigan/MSU or Michigan/OSU game. The only thing that's missing is my view from the Big House.
I'm gonna go grab my seat cushion and put it on my chair.

To a fellow Hollander...What What

The smell of fresh cut grass in August gets me going.

Gents, long time reader/first-time poster. Figured asking here was better than creating a diary and filling it with babble about lol Sparty or how many small children Charlie could eat in one sitting.
I'll be in Galway, Ireland for game one against WMU. Then I'll be in Barcelona for game two against ND.
Any idea if/where I can go watch the games? I'll be staying in hostels/hotels/villas and I won't have an internet connection, besides whatever I can get on my Blackberry. Thanks.

Watched the replay of the 2008 Capital One Bowl against the Gators on the Big Ten Network. The offense was ridiculous in that game. It got me so fired up for the season. I've been fired up since the end of last season but this game just turned it up a notch. 15 more days!

man I have that whole game saved on my computer. I know a lot of you aren't Carr fans, but I am one of those unreasonable Carr supporters and that game just made me so happy for him. I watch it about once a month. The WRs, the defense stuffing Tebowchild, Henne healthy, Hart's hilarious reactions after his fumbles...it's a true classic.
