RE: UM games in NC

Submitted by bigge1014 on

Thank you to everyone who responded to my first thread about where to go in North Carolina to watch games.  Several people asked, I will be staying in Spring Hope because thats where the dog kennel is where I am getting my new police dog.  Is anyone part of this alumni group that means around Raleigh?  I would be willing to drive there to catch the games.

I get the MTAC emails, but my son plays Pop Warner on Saturdays, so I usually go home to watch via DVR. You should get yourself on the MTAC email, twitter or facebook list.

Also, enjoy getting to know your new best freind.

But haven't watched a game with them since Chris Perry ran all over OSU 7 years ago...but it was a lot of fun.

You can e-mail the leader of the group @  [email protected]  to get the low down on where they will be watching games this fall.  I would invite you to my pad but will have a new baby in October and my wife will probably not like 2 drunk guys in her house...one is usually all she tolerates at 4pm on a sat.

Edit: here is an excerpt from last years MTAC mid year e-mail regarding where they watched football...this is right off 540 and "relatively" convenient from Nashville.  Good Luck

CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN AS U-M FOOTBALL TAKES ON ILLINOIS – OCTOBER 31

The U-M football season may have taken a scary turn with last weekend's

loss to Penn State, but there is still plenty to cheer for as the

Wolverines attempt to become bowl eligible this Saturday against Illinois.

As always, M-TAC will be watching the game at Wild Wing Cafe in Brier

Creek, and we'll be raffling great U-M prizes in support of the M-TAC

scholarship funds. We hope you will join us in your favorite Michigan gear

or your Halloween costume! Kickoff this Saturday is at 3:30 p.m. For

directions to Wild Wing Cafe, please visit

Ah the K-9 training unit...I know it well. It's actually more towards Nashville. I wrote an article on the guy who ran the place back in the 90s. That was the first time I ever saw a Belgian Malinois.

If you're coming to Raleigh, you won't have any trouble finding the games. Enjoy!

The area where the have the kennels is very pretty. Wide open spaces. They have a ton of acreage and those dogs are something else. Total champs and they can't wait to work.

There is a place north of Rocky Mount where they work with bomb-sniffing dogs (mostly Labradore Retrievers, IIRC) and the difference between both the dogs and the handlers in those two places was startling. The police dog trainer liked dogs okay, but he had about as much attachment to them as you would have with a goldfish. The folks who worked with the labs, however, were like Seinfeld and his "shmoopy" girlfriend.
