I love how they try to convince themselves that their defense is just too good and that the kid wants early playing time, No chance in hell it could be anything else, right? I mean, their defense is just too damn good to recruit players right now.

All the insults towards Michigan I found hilarious but I was somehow offended by this comment.

"They have the resources, tradition, intangibles (stupid helmets, big craphole stadium, etc, etc) to sell kids."

Don't talk shit about about the winged helmet or the Big House.

Goog ol' State inferiority complex. The Sparty sitting next to me at the MSU game last fall spent a good 20 minutes before the game raving to his Sparty girlfriend about how Michigan Stadium was the most incredible sports venue he had ever seen.

Hey I know that this is unrelated but I do not have enough points to make a post on the MGoBoard, and figured some people might be interested. ESPN insider Chad Ford has Darius Morris going in the first round at pick #23 to the Houston Rockets.

"Analysis: The Rockets got a career year out of Kyle Lowry, but is he the long-term answer at the point? I think they'd have to take a hard look at Morris if he's here.

He's different than Lowry. He is bigger and really sees the floor well. His lack of elite quickness and shooting ability hurts his stock a bit -- but some scouts compare him to a young Andre Miller. "" "

Feel free to post. I'm sad to see Darius leave, but at the same time it is exciting to know that Michigan basketball is once again capable of producing NBA talent consistently.

It took six pages before someone said:

i have no doubt that Mattison is telling all of these kids that they will have a good chance at immediate playing time and if they commit to michigan, he will get them to the NFL.

If we beat them this year, I think several Sparties might be on death watch. They're already turning on each other.

They're just being selective goddamnyou!
<br>"MSU is coming off an 11-2 season and a share of the Big Ten championship. That should allow the Spartans to be very selective about whom they offer. U-M is in a rebuilding stage and new coach Brady Hoke is being aggressive and stirring early interest." - Matt Dorsey, SpartanMag.com

You make a valid point, but I was making an argument: it's silly to say your team is so good/deep that no high level recruits want to play for it. If it offends your sensibilities, allow me to cyber-retro-ly replace "shitty" in the above with "low rated".

Black Helicopter Time....Not really I guess but I've never liked the idea of a Domino's executive taking over as scum AD. Its Brandon that worries me, especially after how he snow jobbed the NCAA with the RichRod cheating stuff.

Brandon.comes from a weird organizatio in Domino's..full of right wing religious ideology, suspicion, micromanagement and spy on their employees, etc. all stemming from the culture of that wierd one Monaghan with his constant sick glint in his eye everytime he'd mention scum, Bo and how he finally launched his pizza empire from out of a car back seat to the big time when he got access to the MSU domitories in the 70s. I swear everytime that scum sucker would mention that story he had that sick smirk and glint in his eye knowing he made it big and aided his beloved scum on the back of Spartan student dollars (I know.. I was there when he did it). Never forget him landing BO in a Domino's corporate helicopter at some suburban HS to try to lure a big time MSU recruit (think it was Harrison and Jim Miller or the safety Miller from the 80s)

Domino's as a business has always struck me as having a shady, underhanded, sneaky, anti-employee, spying kind of a corporate mentality. That kind of mentality takes on a "holier than thou", "superiority complex", "look down your nose at others" type of outlook that always rationalizes and justifies bending the rules because they think rules only apply to the "little people". Makes me wonder why that no sooner do the insert a Domino's exex in as their AD recruit after recruit just miraculously lands at scum.

This business with Izzo being reported to the NCAA for the supidest of rules "violations", which was a huge stretch has generally been blamed on sour grapes from Matt Painter. But I think it has less to do with that Gene Keady protege than that Domino's corporate scum slappy down in Ann Arbor.

Yeah even people on their board called him crazy. I was honestly laughing a few sentences in to that. The whole board was funny though, the second someone would make an argument that was fairly reasonable such as "lets not freak out yet it's only May" it would be followed by 4 or 5 irrational posts showing what shitty fans they are such as  "we are finished its the end of the world" "is this the end of our run. serious question" OR the completely opposite kool-aid drinkers saying "They must want early playing time" , "We are only recruiting nationally now" (HAHAHAHA) or "Its because Dantonio had to coach spring practice". For those who haven't read it yet its hilarious. Really shows that although all fans, us included, blow things out of proportion sometimes, MSU fans are freaking out to the extreme right now. I wish Dantonio would comment on the situation I would love to hear his spin on it all.

Calling it now though, if Burbridge goes blue, put half of their posters on suicide watch!

The best line I've seen there - not in this post, but when Hoke first started to bring in the big-name kids - was "you gotta work for that Spartan offer."  Unless we are talking about a gentleman's club and trying to get back to the champagne room, nobody should ever have to "work" for an MSU offer.

To sum up some threads:

1) Sparty is offering athletes outside of Michigan for the first time in years.

2) Sparty is being very very selective.

Why, then, should they worry? Surely the BRAHS can just drink some brewskis and watch 300 for the eleventh time this month.....

is that it isn't just enough to GET recruits from outside the midwest to be "national." Everyone recruits from far away. CMU got players from Florida and California last year. Eastern got SEVERAL players from California. Western landed players from Florida, Virginia, and Tennessee. And just to throw a random in there, Ohio got players from Kansas, Nebraska, Washington, and Georgia. So yeah....

To be fair, it was a joke.  Much in the same way we had a thread here "Gay for Denard".

Someone posted earlier "Did your life get busier after marriage" and a few commentors joked that they first read it as "Did your wife get bustier after marriage".  So it looks like someone went ahead and started that thread to carry on the joke.

The meltdown over there would be amazing if the team walks out of EL with a win. I would seriously sit in front of a computer that night to watch the fireworks.

A few of them are already boarding suicide, I can't even imagine if we got Burbridge. He needs to get his grades up so he can actually have a realistic shot at going to UofM. If we get Dwayne Stanford I'd be just as happy though, since he is also a 4-star and probably still very dissapointing for Sparty!

They apparently like to put a lowercase "c" in front of Hoke's last name. "cHoke," get it!?!? They are more clever than Michio Kaku, Lionel Messi, and Cornel West combined.

"Meatchicken?" I've never seen that one before. I don't get it. I mean, I get that it's a take on Ufer's "Meeechigan," but other than that, it doesn't really make sense. Aren't chickens supposed to have meat? Wouldn't a "meat chicken" be a good and useful thing?
