RBR Initiates "Michigan Hate Week"
http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2012/8/27/3271749/michigan-hate-week
Wow, that is all I can say.
For a team that we've only played 3 times, they really hate us and pretty much everyone north of the Mason Dixon. They think we're pricks, elitist, and that they're following the rules as far as oversigining goes.
Well, enjoy!
August 28th, 2012 at 9:18 PM ^
Only fitting that they'd prostrate themselves before their superiors to the north.

Yep, its part of college football. I actually liked Boise and really respect Peterson, but until the game clock hits 0:00 Friday night, I hate them.
August 28th, 2012 at 10:43 PM ^
At which point you'll really hate them.
August 28th, 2012 at 11:25 PM ^
But that countdown is going to last a while. "5...4...3...2...1...1...1...Larry Stevens...1...1..."

the author was bitching about the fact that it is Blue and Maize and not Blue and Yellow. So says a fan of the "Crimson" Tide.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
Yeah I spent about 90 seconds on that thread before deciding fully that it was total insanity. Sorry, Bama - I like you, but that shit's just nonsense.

The Civil War, Undefeated where it matters

I hope the south does rise again, it's time for another ass whoopin'.
August 29th, 2012 at 10:57 AM ^
Because the northerners are even taking away the confederate flag from the General Lee-

Stupid 5 point limit... Scoreboard Hillbillies!
August 28th, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
You understand why SEC teams refuse to travel north. The last time they played in Big Ten country was near Gettysburg, PA, and it didn't go well. SEC speed or not, their line really didn't stand up well, especially when they tried to make a late-game charge.

No, 149 yrs is long enough.

You're not rubbing salt in the wound are you? ...seeing how it was Michigan cavalry that burned the University of Alabama down at the end of the Civil War.

Those were some...pretty awful talking points on why to hate Michigan. At least our fans don't tea bag passed out rival fans, douche.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
Yes, Michigan fans are elitist because they root for the winningest CFB program in the history of the sport, just as mgoblog is elitist because posters here typically know how to utilize basic grammatical rules, such as the difference between then and than and when to add an apostrophe in the word its.
In such cases, I’m fine with others calling me elitist.

This kind of stuff just is flamebait, not really news.
Just sayin'
August 28th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
I read just one comment from the guy who wrote the longest response - the guy who said we're in the top 10 for elitist pricks. That was enough for me.
But I especially love the comment he made about our program being on a downward spiral and how we don't belong on the same field as them and then bringing up our past bowl losses.
I would have loved to hear what this guy had to say the 7 years leading up to Nick Saban's arrival when Bama's biggest accomplishments were 2 trips to the Independence Bowl.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
how they belonged on the field against Utah, or even LSU last year. Okie State would whip that ass.
August 29th, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
If you think OK State would have beaten Alabama last year.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
Relative recent success aside, I don't mind being called arrogant.
We are, after all, the leaders and best. We should embrace our arrogrance since we are rightfully better than the peons that look up to us. /s /butnotreally
Seriously, though: we're the only fanbase that would wear this shirt with the correct use of alum/alumnus/alumna/alumni/alumnae:
August 29th, 2012 at 11:39 AM ^
The only problem with that shirt is that women can't wear it. That is why I prefer this one:
August 29th, 2012 at 11:47 AM ^
That shirt is awesome (referring to the alumnus one, not the maize one, though the maize one is cool too), I totally want to buy that. I'll be in Ann Arbor this weekend, is it on sale at a particular store?
August 28th, 2012 at 9:28 PM ^
...given RBR's history with Michigan Blogs, a good ole fashion hate thread would be a good idea....
And finally, I know its been quite a few years but hey MGOBLOG....please die in a fire. That is all. What's the deal here?
August 28th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
What if WolverineInABag was the real imposter and RDT was the real deal?

Join the club. Alabama has won two of the last three national titles, but when it comes to the big picture they have "little brother" syndrome when it comes to Michigan. What is it about Michigan that brings out the "best" in opposing fanbases.
August 28th, 2012 at 9:28 PM ^
Eh, the guy needed some clicks so he refrenced Mgoblog. Must be tough trying to get Alabama fans to put down the new edition of Auto Trader and sign up for this internet thing they keep hearing about.

August 28th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
Now folks, you cannot both boast about the Civil War (as some have done in this thread) and tell the South to secede. You fought the Civil War to keep them from leaving the Union. If we are going to diss the logic of others let think things through ourselves...
August 29th, 2012 at 8:15 AM ^
Why can't southerners let it go? My GF is from Atlanta, and I get called a Yankee more often than I care to when I'm down there. (as if it's a bad thing too.)
August 29th, 2012 at 3:05 PM ^
Actually, this comment thread is filled with boasts about the North's victory in the Civil War, so I don't know who you are referring to as needing to let it go. All I'm saying is how irrational it is to boast about winning that war, the point of which was to deny the South the right to leave, and then to say they should leave the country. Moreover, when Northerners boast about raping and burning the South, don't be surprised that people whose family is in the South aren't happy about it, since those things were done to their ancestors. (I was not raised in the South, btw. I just think that if we're going to gloat over Southern stupidity, we ought not be moronic ourselves. Sorry to ruin the group-think, but I am a Michigan grad.)
August 31st, 2012 at 12:45 AM ^
I'll tell you what. I can only speak anecdotally, but any time the civil war has come up, it's been by folks from the South.
Now in all, the majority of folks i've met and have gotten to know, are amazing, compassionate, welcoming people. And I'll agree, responding to this discussion calling southerners uneducated and backwards is equally silly. But, In my very expansive experience (last 5 years) I've gotten a lot of flak for being "from the north". My family hails from Puerto Rico. My grandfather was a farmer who came to the US in the 50s... 1950s. The Civil War seems to come up every day in the South... whereas growing up in NYC, I'd say we're pretty much over it....
