RB Rotation vs. Rutgers

Submitted by Sten Carlson on
I didn't see this discussed anywhere else and was wondering if anyone has any insight/explanation for the RB rotation we saw vs. Rutgers. Smith (15/73) and Johnson (7/27) were as expected, but the third RB was Houma (6/19), not Green (2/6) whose carries came in garbage time when Speight was QB. Shallman (3/9) and RT-D (2/8) both got carries in garage time, but no Higdon, and as expected, no Isaac. Did I miss something? Injuries? Dog house? We knew about Isaac, but Houma as 3rd RB? Green looked heavy IMO -- not that I should talk -- and a bit dejected coming off the field. I liked the way Shallman initiated contact and ran hard, as did RT-D. Any ideas?

Can Isaac even transfer again? To a FBS school? Would he sit another year and lose a year of elgibility?

That hardy seems likely. It actually seems much easier to just buckle down and do what you're supposed to do, doesn't it? Or am I just doggely old-fashioned?

Let's face it, Green is a bust. He's gained that bad weight back and looks slower. Also, he just doesn't run hard. Houma impressed the hell out of me at the tailback position. I would like to see him get more carries.

Newsflash- green is bad. He should only get garbage time from here on out. I feel bad for him bc he was so highly rated but to be frank, he looks like a MAC level running back. Then again, so did Rawls and he ended up owning the MAC

Johnson got the start, smith was in after him and you forgot about Ross-Douglass who got a run in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Houma was put at RB I think because Johnson fumbled and they just took smith out and was ahead of ROss-Douglass. And Shallman just got off the injured list and is buried on the Depth chart.

Higdon is can't play banged up, and Green has a leg injury that's slowing him down re watch the tape watch him limp in and out.
Rumors are that Issac is in the doghouse because he didn't like the way he was treated after the fumbles. All these other guys running their mouth have zero clues what is going on don't listen to them.

Green looked very overweight to me yesterday. There was one camera shot where he looked like a dead ringer for the fat Eddie Lacey pic that was floating around last year.

Very few of the possible backs have the combination of speed, elusiveness and reliability (don't fumble) that is needed for the RB. At this point, Sione Houma is a good option if one is not looking for a long run - just hit a hole and hit it hard. He blocks well, and can catch a pass.

Unfortunately Green and Isaacs have not worked out as one would hope.

That Houma is gonna beast as he gets more carries he was my player I thought would benefit the most from Harbaugh. I can see Houma as a Raven next year: but I would be give him the rock more and more if I were big Jim. He runs nasty and he also ran a 4.5 out of high school
