RB coach Jackson WAS set to take pro job?

Emphasis on WAS.  He held up when heard Brady Hoke was hired.

So while scouring the Freep (with Adblock plus to kill their revenue), I noticed an interesting blurb at the end of an article with RB coach Fred Jackson.

Jackson was set to leave for a pro job after Rodriguez was fired -- to coach "the best running back in football," he said -- but as soon as he heard Brady was hired, he hesitated. His wife said Brady would call and he did, quickly.

This was certainly news to me as I don't remember any sniff about him possibly taking a pro job.  And to coach the "best running back in football"?  What team could that be?  Going by coach Jackson's frequent use of hyperboles it could realistically mean any NFL team.  What's your guess?  And glad the legend stuck around!

Only b/c its proper etiquette, here's the link:

I thought he wanted to stick around for his son's sake as well.  I guess his Jackson-speak means he could have been talking about the Lions and...Jahvid Best?

It wouldn't really matter which team he went to.  Hee'd be coaching the best running back not just in football, but in every sport in the entire solar system.

I'm pretty sure he could show up to coach a pickup game on Palmer field and I'd suddenly become the best running back in football.

In 2011, the Dolphins, Colts, Titans, Vikings and Panthers are the teams that have hired a new Running Backs coach.  I believe that the Titans change was linked to Jeff Fisher leaving, which occurred after Hoke was hired, so that would eliminate the Titans.  The Panthers coaching change also occurred after Hoke was hired.

Considering that Mike Hart is on the Colts and is the best running back in football, I would assume that he was talking about them.

Other than money, the pros doesn't seem like it would hold much interest for a guy like Fred. His recruiting abilities would be for naught and he's not going to teach Adrian Peterson anything he doesn't know.

Maybe he figured the job would go to Harbaugh or Miles, and didn't want to work for them.  He may well share Carr's disdain for those two.
