Rawls Question

Submitted by A_Maize_Zing on
I coached at a small C school in the flint area last year and we happend to scrimmage Flint Northern. Mr. Rawls really struggled running the ball against us but some of that had to do with his offensive line and them having a hard time picking up run stunts. He struck me as an ok runner but I was not overly impressed. That all changed when he came out on defense. He was an absolute animal. He was one of the best linebackers I have seen in the Flint area in a long time. Now his highlights were impressive from this year but has there been any talk of him being an LB at the next level? He is not a big guy but he has a solid frame, flows to the ball well and explodes on impact...he really was an impressive defensive player.

Haven't heard anything about him playing defense.  I'd be cool if he was at least willing to play either O or D, and good that he has experience playing both too.

But....He didn't start RB until the 3rd game of the season last year(Junior year) so maybe that was the problem against your team, but he was an All-Conference LB his Sophomore year with 100 tackles, and had 100 tackles his Junior year

Him play live against Sainaw Heritage, the game where he broke Mark Ingram's single game rushing record. Yes, he is a very solid defensive player but make no mistake this kid is a RB. Problem is with him and Ingram coming out was they have no talent at all..like the worst line in the state. i really believe that when he is put around talent and gets a line for the first time he will blow people away like ingram. He would be a 4 star at least on a real team. its sad that he had to play behind a line like that but players like him get a chance to prove themselves in college. aboslute steal if he goes makes it in. LOVE the way this kid runs.

Ehh you might say not horrible but i definetly would not say good. The fact he had to break about 3-4 tackles every play says otherwise. The game i seen him play, i failed to see some sort of o-line. But either way rawls had zero help. He will be a great player.
