The Student Section really looked and sounded great. Even those stupid pom-pom things were being shook in unison it was something to see

Watching those pom-poms on t.v. was impressive. They definitely added to the crowd, and as much as I hate to say it, reminded me of an SEC night game. I don't think that's bad, is it? Regardless, it made the place look more rockin than usual.

If you want to keep the crowd going during long, boring 3rd quarter drives, fine. Play the piped in music. But never during special moments or when the band should be playing.

where I was at someone else's house (but not yours)....but I thought the 7 nation army thing was ridiculous (in a good way...as the kids are saying today "it was sick")...I was adamantly against rawk (I am former MMB) until I saw that, but that did work...

Sitting in stands tonight, I thought it really helped the crowd get louder. Of course the band did it's usual outstanding job as well.

I was watching with some of my neighbors in Georgia and they were all extremely impressed. A few said it looked like one of the best game atmospheres they've seen in a long time.... and these are SEC people.

An I think that they're being overshadowed a bit nowadays by the RAWK music,but you have to admit that the student section brought it tonight, and the RAWK music helped with that.
Also, I gotta say that I haven't heard the ENTIRE stadium sound rock that much since the 2009 game against ND. It was so loud that I couldn't even hear myself screaming, and I couldn't have been happier!

Towards the end of the game it was hands down the loudest I've ever heard it inside the stadium. By a long shot too.

Even if they get rid of all other rawk music, they should never, ever, ever get stop playing Seven Nation Army in the fourth quarter.
Yeah, I know everyone else does it, but we're the closest major program to the hometown of the band that made the damn song. It's ours.

It certainly gets the crowd amped up. As long as we don't play SNA before each kickoff (cough Ohio cough), I'll be OK.

I thought it was used really well tonight. Granted I have a pretty high tolerance for it.
Dancing with my son in the stands while the Notre dame fans stood stock still behind us? A sweet memory.

best experience i've ever had attending a game. Also the music definitely helped, it seemes like it really pushed the crowd to get the loudest. Even in the "quiter" sections of the stadium with a lot of older alumni where I was sitting it was even rockin.

I thought it worked pretty well. I could have used a little more band, like some temptation & War chant. The sweet caroline thing annoys, but that's a 'me' issue and I get that.
this was probably the best sporting event i've ever been to. the music added to it. so did the jerseys. so did the 8pm kick.

I was there tonight. This crowd was so much louder and so much more into the game. The band drowned out ND's band every time the Irish band tried to take over.
Then in the fourth qtr every time the crowd needed a little fire lit under it, the Rawk music did it's part.
When the MMB played the Blues Brothers tune for like five to eight straight minutes, it was amazing. I forgot the ND band was even there in the second half. The band was fantastic and the rawk music filled the games perfectly with the perfect music.
For the first time I felt like the crowd was truly the 12th man in this game.
It was a great experience and I'm proud to say I was there. The crowd was fantasic and even the ND crowd was good and not rude and obnoxious like some other crowds. And speaking of which, way to go Michigan fans, there weren't many ND fans in the stands and they went almost unnoticed.

I watched the first half in section 4, behind the ND band, and from there the ND fans seemed pretty loud. I moved to section 44 for the second half--and didn't notice them at all. Of course, then they had less to scream about anyway, heh.

All I know is after that game, all I wanted to do was sing The Victors over and over and over again.
And instead we got a Journey and Neil Diamond singalong.

In fairness, the MMB did play "the Victors" something like four times in a row when the game ended. The piped-in music didn't replace the fight song; it replaced the silence that used to exist for the few minutes between the last playing of "The Victors" and the beginning of the postgame show.

i still want the band playing the victors and temptation but when the crowd needed to make some noise, the rawk music did the trick. it was a catalyst to several incredibly loud downs whether you like it or not

I wasnt there, watched it on ESPN but I could hear the white stripes playing (they're from Detroit!). Also the pom poms made the crowd look electric, it was great to see from home.
I will always hate "Sweet caroline" just because that song blows but Journey never gets old. It was a good mix of the music and the band. I enjoyed the game and from home it looked like a crazy atmosphere.

Every part of the atmosphere at the game tonight was an amazing experience. The best game I have ever been to or seen. Never been to a game with the Big House as loud as it was tonight. So incredible.

Honestly, being at both, I thought 09 ND was louder than Wisky. Just my opinion though. But tonight blew both of those out of the water.

The only bad thing about piped in music was the pop evil song. Can't stand it!!. Thunderstruck, welcome to the jungle, lose yourself, and seven nation army should be the only go-to's for crowd pump ups besides band stuff.

I'm 13 hours ahead of Ann Arbor. Stayed up late last night to watch Gameday, woke up early to watch the afternoon games. I am so jealous of everybody in Ann Arbor right now - that looked like so much fun.
When I was a student, I got to see Gameday, I got to see Braylonfest, I got to see Henne-to-Manningham, I got to see the comeback against Wiscy. And yet, despite being half a world away, there is no question in my mind that what just happened looked like the most fun I've ever seen at a Michigan football game. From start to finish, the pregame festivities, 114.8k making their presence known, and Denard and co. getting it done in the fourth - this had to be the most memorable experience I've watched. And I wasn't even there!
I came out loud against the jerseys, I can't imagine RAWK, and even night games I'm a bit skeptical of - but screw it! Whatever happened tongiht - multiply that by a thousand. I want to go. Stripes on the shoulder? I'm all in. White Stripes? All in. Under the Lights? You know it.
GO BLUE!
(Although after the game, I think the band should still be the only entertainment)

I'm 13 hours ahead too (Korea) and have similar exeriences as you - though a decade earlier. And I, too, felt like tonight was the funnest I've ever seen that stadium. I am still hoping to find a full video of the Desmond halftime show - hoping mgovideo or mgoblue might post it.
Only disagreement: glad to see the music after the game. It was incredible to see all the fans still there singing. They wouldn't be able to all sing along with the band b/c they were just too loud. Via TV, it was incredible to see the postgame show.

I'll second that hearing Blues Brothers, even for so long, was great. It kept up energy during a break when previously it might have died. Key play from the 12th man. Everyone was pitching in.

I thought it was perfect. I mean playing in Piped In RAWK normally pisses me off, but they did it really well last night. (To my knowledge anyway) The Pop Evil song didn't get played until after the game, which was a plus. That song also got booed like crazy when Fowler asked the Gameday Crowd if they should play it today. So maybe it's not a popular as Dave Brandon wants us to think....
And all I have to say is, 4th Quarter when they were playing Seven Nation Army, everyone was yelling, even the older alums by me. Last night was awesome, looking forward to more Night Games in the future

I'm still of the opinion that Seven Nation Army constrains the sound.
It gets people going, but Special K needs to kill the volume once the opponent breaks the huddle so the students stop the "ooh" chant and just get loud. You can be much louder if you're not trying to stay in sync with SNA. I know when I was in the student section and SNA was playing people were more concerned with keeping the rhythm than banging their cowbells, shaking their milk jugs with coins, and just getting LOUD.
Plus the fact that we have to steal it from PSU and OSU is annoying.

Its not really stealing from psu or osu when pretty much every school in the country does and I would be willing to put serious money down that neither of those schools were the first to do it either. I was in the student section last night and it was incredible, I know i'll never forget that game.

...and I loved the music at the end of the game. Normally I hate piped in music, but I felt that this environment was a bit different and it worked. The game started off primarily MMB, and after halftime it transitioned to piped in music. I think I could honestly say I would have prefered that when I marched because after halftime - especially long days like yesterday must have been - I would have liked to rock out with my fellow students under the lights. I just hope DB doesn't try to do something like that for a noon game, that is a completely different scenario. I will also say, as someone who loathes Journey, hearing what was left of the stadium sing Don't Stop Believin' when the music cut out was pretty cool. That might have been fun to hear during the game.

brought an extreme energy to the crowd. I saw the older fans attempting to chant to the newer music and the younger fans (pre-teens) trying to keep up with the classics. ALL fans were IN FOR MICHIGAN!

Piped in music definetly helped the crowd get into it. there are many fans that unfortunatly need a boost of loud music to get them going with the rest of us and screeming any big 3rd down conversion try. 4th quarter was epic. my ears are still ringing.

the music really got the crowd energized. I have to admit, while I knew many of the songs, I didn't know the name/artist of the techno pop song - it was very catchy and would love to blare it in my "mom-mobile"! Thanks for the help!

Keep Rawking as far as I'm concerned...
We had fun with it even if it wasn't me prefered music. What ever it takes to turn everybody in the Big House into a feared weapon, do it.
