According to Tom VH's twitter He's down to M and Rutgers. Will not be taking his vist to Ole Miss. Will announce on signing day. This is going to be an interesting signing day for sure.
fair point that
"According to Tom VH's twitter He's"
Holy crap! Jesus has turned down what was thought to be his obvious leader, ND, and is now down to Michigan and Rutgers? Signing day surprises get crazier every year!!!
+1 for managing to mention both holy crap and Jesus in the same thought. Who'da thunk it.
Get the Escalade, we're out of here...
I know we are to keep religion off the board but...
Jesus wasn't catholic was he? With the state of there program, I see him going to TCU don't you? Besides didn't he just finish up at Florida and wasn't he just spotted shirtless at the senior bowl?
I wasn't trying to make a religious statement. I go to ND law, as I have said many times, and ND fans truly seem to think that God is on the side of their football team, I was merely making a joke and didn't mean to offend anyone if my negging is a sign of my having offended anyone.
I refuse to believe we live in a world where ANYONE chooses Rutgers over UofM for any reason.
Sadly, this is the world of college football recruiting and the whims of 18-year olds, in which Shavodrick Beaver chose Tulsa over U of M.
I'm glad he did, all name-related kidding aside.
the Beaver-Cox backfield. Alas, what might have been...
Greg Schiano did.
Until he changed his mind the next day and Martin told him to go screw (or so the story goes).
with 50 winning seasons and 20 National Championships
Schiano should have taken the best job in the game; instead he's a middling Big East coach with designs on the Penn State job he can never have.
Yup. A few years ago it looked like he would have had a great chance at the job. But recent events (like the ongoing fiasco at Michigan and Penn State's recent resurgence) probably mean that Tom Bradley or Larry Johnson Jr. will get the job when JoePa retires.
Shavowho? Tulwhat? I've never heard of that guy or that school. All I know is Tanard Forinson, mega QB from the planet touchdown.
Rasean Knightparker hails from the same planet.
last name= FAIL
have preferred Knarker? or Pight?
Although Knightparker does sound like a Valet driver. Never really see Valet drivers during the day. Unless of course you live in LA where there is Valet at Starbucks and Target.
If throwing touchdowns was illegal and getting interceptions got people arrested than I guess Knarker would work.
Shouldn't they be from planet Anti-Touchdown.
Nope, they know nothing but pick sixes.
Don't forget Rutgers is the home of Tony Soprano. Maybe Big Pussy and Paulie went to pay him a visit already.
I hope Big Redacted paid him a visit as well.
It clearly has something to do with him being afraid of competing with Ray Vinopal, who has already brought a ton of grit, competitiveness, and can-do attitude to our program.
...and don't forget to mention his greatest attribute: stumpy legs.
That stumpy legs bit gets me laughing every time.
I think any of our alums trumps their list.
One of the google founders > > the guy that wrote Mr. Magoo.
To be fair, Mr. Magoo paved the way for all the hilarious sight-impaired comedy that came after it.
i rather have a winged helmet then a big ass R on my helmet
Ok, but his name is Rashad. Also, his last name is Knight. If his middle name were Scarlet, I'd say we just concede this one. Presumably it's not, so I think we're in good shape.
But if there's ever a recruit named M. Wolverine, everybody else better just back off.
I logged into my account at work just to +1 you. Don't know why but that last sentence cracked me up. OKAY BACK TO EXCEL FOR ANOTHER 4 HOURS YAY.
Ridiculously unsuccessful for most of the last, well, ever. No offense Ray Rice, but you were an abberation.
before his UM visit he and his parents were favoring Rutgers and Ole Miss for various reason. then he visited UM and was blown away and rumors were UM was in the lead. however, he still goes on the rutgers visit THEN shuts down his recruitment.
i'm thinking rutgers may have somehow won this battle based on the fact he decided not to take a visit after rutgers, but did take a visit after UM. however, this is an 18 yr old kid so who the hell knows.
He could have come back from the his visit here and just decideded to check out rutgers, and didn't feel like taking anymore visits because the Michigan one was so beast. He could have just thrown rutgers in there to say that they were in the final 2 just like furman did.
No way he goes to Rutgers. Hello Rashad Knight.
neg you if you just jinxed us.
talented athlete from Jacksonville, FL is trying to make a decision between spending four years in Newark, NJ or Ann Arbor, MI?
and while it is not as nice of a town as Ann Arbor, New Brunswick is a college town, and is only a ~45 minute train ride to NYC.
...unfortunately. To compare New Brunswick in any way to a college town is preposterous. The place is a dump. And I say that with a completely straight face. It's run down, tons of unemployment, boarded up buildings, folks just hanging out on street corners. There is no campus business/entertainment district at all. It's Youngstown without the charm.
When exactly did you live in New Jersey, like 20-30 years ago? Because everything you said was false.
"Run down" - Almost the entire downtown area is brand new, including a new hotel, new restaurants, new luxury condos, and a new Rutgers apartment-style dorms. Also they are about to build The Rutgers Gateway around the train station, which will include some Rutgers facilities, a movie theatre, and lots of shopping. Everything I've mentioned is adjacent to or 5-10 minute walk from campus.
"Tons of unemployment" - New Brunswick is home to 2 of the largest employers in New Jersey - Rutgers (duh) and Johnson & Johnson. I don't think someone from Michigan is in a place to talk unemployment...
"No business/entertainment district at all" - No, only the State Theatre of New Jersey plus 2 other theatres next door. comedy clubs with New York A-listers, the Zimmerli art museum, plus Rutgers' Mason Gross arts school, which is one of the top 5 fine arts schools in the nation.
Although most of Rutgers' FL recruits are from Miami and surrounding areas (and not Jacksonville), they seem to get lots of players from Florida. Here is a map. On the other hand, they haven't had a 4-star (according to Rivals) recruit from FL commit since 2002. Hopefully this favors us.
Rutgers is a good forty minutes from Newark.
In a couple years we will have one of the strongest and deepest secondaries in the country.
but....Stevie Brown (**** S) , Mouton (****1/2 S) , Mike Williams (****), Brandon Smith (****),and Boubacar (****) prove that nothings guaranteed. Granted, BooBoo has his own problems off the field but even so he seemed o regress last yr. Stevie and Mouton were moved to linebacker but Brown was basically the equivalent to Williams prior to last yr, which is not meant as a compliment. So...as much as I'd love to believe Turner, Emilien, Christian, and unnamed safety commit will solidify our secondary I'll believe it when I see it.
and Marvin Robinson
plus, the possible additions of Sean Parker and Rashad Knight.
Tell me again why you don't think 9-11 additions to the secondary (along with 2 commits in 2011 already in the bag) won't "Solidify the secondary...."
I think our secondary will be better as the safety play can't hardly be worse, but I was merely saying that the five players I mentioned have contributed basically nothing to the secondary.
As far as the guys you mention, I love the depth RR is building -- my point is that these things are often hit-or-miss, so naturally more bodies=better chances for success. I was focusing on some of the higher-profile players (I neglected Robinson in regards to newcomers --my bad). Vinopal and Johnson excite me, but are diamond in the rough types, while Talbott and Avery weren't highly recruited either.
I don't want to give the wrong impression that I'm not happy with what RR has done with the number or quality of DB recruits, I'm just merely stating that there are no guarantees.
