Ranking Big Ten helmets

Submitted by m1jjb00 on

The Omaha article ranking Big Ten helmets was linked by Rittenberg yesterday.  I didn't post this as a "Yeah, we're number one."  As the writer says, "It's obvious".  As for the others, I'm less of a fan of the plain like PSU or Nebraska, than others, but whatever.  What I found fascinating, however, is the stat that MSU has changed its helmet 16 times since 1960.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never thought that much of Iowa's helmets or jerseys...always thought they were gaudy even though they are similar to Pittsburgh.  Penn State and Nebraska tie for second, everyone else is underwhelming imho...

MSU's best team, in 1966, got to wear MSU's best helmet iteration:

They have been screwing things up ever since.

Still, they resemble something a character in "MarioKart" might wear--or Commander Keen might don something like this for a change of pace!
