Randy Shannon for Defensive Coordinator

Submitted by Korean Wolverine20 on

In the years he's been a DC his defense was ranked

  • 2001- 6th
  • 2002 - 7th
  • 2003- 2nd
  • 2004- 28th
  • 2005- 4th
  • 2006- 7th

And while his head coaching record sucked, the team had a high graduation rate and 1 arrest during his reign and he can recruit FL, particularly Miami, very well.

If RR can just give Shannon full reign over the defense and not force the 3-3-5 on him, this team could have a very good defense to go along with a great offense.

I did say that RR would still be the coach...

He's obviously improved our offense and I'm a big supporter of his. But with Shannon's firing, I think he'd be a great hire.

Maybe this wasn't the best time to post this, but Great offense + (sooner or later) ~top 30 (edit:) defense should result in many Big Ten championships, BCS bowl games, and most importantly, NC games

but Harbaugh would bring Vic F with him as his DC.  Unlike Coach Rod, when Stanford's D sucked last year, he cleaned house and let his new DC bring in some of his own guys....net result, 9 or 10th worst D in Pac10 last year is one of the top 3 this year.....so it CAN be done.  You have to admire Coach Rod's loyalty to his assistants, but its obvious that they are not cutting it coaching the D.  The apologists can chime in now about youth, injuries, etc...but let's face it, the D did not improve as the season progressed, they regressed.

I just got back from the Stanford/Ore State game and the can of whoop ass that Stanford opened up on that team was impressive.  Their third shutout of the season.  Any way you look at it, impressive.

BTW, those naysayers saying Harbaugh couldn't adapt to Shoelace, Tate or DG as QB are high...this is the same coach that used Tavita Pritchard as his QB to upset USC in the Coliseum.  He adapted this year's O without Toby G.  He plays a mix of power I, spread, west coast and shit i have never seen before to run an innovative offense based around the playmakers on the field.   You would NOT see another regression to 3-9 or 4-8 with Harbaugh as coach.  Any you would also not see an embarrassing special teams display like we saw today and all season with the current coaching staff.  Even when Harbaugh didn't have the horses and his first 2 years, their special teams were respectable.

My ticket renewal and $5K Victor's Club donation sit on my desk until Brandon makes his decision.

I agree that our current defensive staff should be fired because they made the defense  historically bad and RR is loyal to a fault but idc if you're Nick Saban, no one in the country can have a good defense with a secondary consisting of 3 true freshmen, a first year starting CB that changed positions every year, and a walk-on that can't cover well, but plays "with grit, is like a coach on the field, and is quicker than fast."

btw, stop sucking Harbaugh's dick

Vince Lombardi couldn't have fixed this defense..am I right?

I'm pretty sure Penn State had 3  freshman starting in their secondary a few games last year. If you are really naive enough to beleive no coach in the country could have had these players play better then they did this year your a fucking lunatic...that is all

BTW, stop sucking RR's dick
