Rampant Edge of Internet Rumor Mongering Re: Harbaugh
Both Henson and Moss (YTM) have for some reason become much more positive about Harbaugh in the last 15 minutes. Henson was already very positive but just went "way more positive" and Moss (who Brian did not shoot down as a source a few weeks ago) said "I was never convinced that Jim Harbaugh was coming here until about 15 minutes ago."
The "crowned one" says 8 years, 49 mil (6.125 a year) is the deal. That would make sense - puts him in the "top 5" of NCAA coaches (#2 behind Saban) as Brian reported he wishes. And a $1M+ bump vs NFL salary.
Some connection to the Moeller stuff but seems like something happened in addition in the last 15 minutes. The Moeller stuff has been going on for 48 hrs - it would be strange for that to be a "new" surprise to 2 guys focused so intently on this hire within a 15 minute time span.
Again, "edge of internet" so eat your salt.
It's happening?
EDIT 11:20 PM EST - more Henson rumor mongering is Harbaugh looking at DJ Durkin as DC. He is current interim coach of UF and served 2 years under Muschamp as DC. Connection to Harbaugh = special teams coach for Stanford in 07-09. 36 years old (!).
Durkin is a Youngstown (!) OH boy, who has tons of Midwest ties via Bowling Green, Notre Dame in 2001-2006 as a GA and position coach. Been at Florida since 2010.

All of this has made me want to subscribe to Tweeter, or whatever, to see first hand how exactly this is evolving.

I did precisely that for this search. Glad I did.

If anything, it seems Sam is hinting about Les, not Jim.
But, he's been absolutely on point for the last month. Just ask current AD Dave Brandon.

The hell is this supposed to mean?
Michigan is dealing with unpredictable candidates, "changes of heart," etc. But there's a reason this is entering its third week....

Think he's just saying to have confidence in Hackett - that there is a plan and that we aren't flailing around like in '07.

but if literally every source is saying "Harbaughharbaughharbaughharbaugh", Miles being on board would be completely out of left field

I think he's just saying that Les might still be in play if we don't get Harbaugh. He made an earlier tweet saying Harbaugh was clearly still #1.

I think Sam is making a lot of sense. No official word from Harbaugh so Miles takes his name out of consideration just like Saban did with the Alabama job right before he took it. (wink, wink)
In other words dont believe anything Miles just said.

No he isn't. He's insinuating that Miles isn't actually taking himself out of the race. It's just PR for him to say he isn't going to be Michigan's coach.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:34 PM ^
Sam also said this immediately following Miles off the record comments:
He said what he needed to in light of no offer & no substantive talks. I would've said same thing @jamesfe724 @KyleBogie @michiganinsider
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) December 16, 2014
So, it looks like Michigan did not heavily pursue or offer Miles.

The latter.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:15 PM ^
If that's true, Harbaugh would be getting less money(than the NFL) and is taking the job because he really wants to be here.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:36 PM ^
JH is currently making $5M per year with the 49ers and $6.125M per year would make him the 2nd higest paid college coach and would also put him in the top 10 of the highest paid NFL coaches.
Also, an EIGHT year contract is virtually unheard of in the NFL. If that offer is true it is a monster deal that almost nobody could or would match.
December 15th, 2014 at 11:38 PM ^
Is about a 1.3% part of his decision. Harbaugh is declaring his legacy, one way or the other. There is no escaping that pressure. If he REALLY loved the NFL above all else, he would have already said that.
Now, if the answer is ultimately "no" he knows he is currently jerking us around and again, legacy and image are at play regardless.
I think we hear yes soon. If we hear nothing, the answer is also yes.
