yeah but look what Urban was able to do within the month and a half after he was hired, I wasn't hoping for that but I was hoping for more than this
January 31st, 2015 at 12:27 PM ^
Urban has been recruiting those kids for over a year. Can't compare the two. The recruiting will be just fine.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:32 PM ^
Plus, people forget about the Penn State/Sandusky thing that Urban took advantage of. How many recruits did he steal from them that first year? I cant wait for Harbaugh to have a year to build relationships. He will kill it.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:36 PM ^
Urban was recruiting some of those kids at Florida. OSU was not coming off a 8 year malaise also.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:31 PM ^
You mean when he could recruit full-time while the actual coaching staff was coaching the team? Imagine that...
January 31st, 2015 at 12:34 PM ^
Osu was the #1 beneficiary of the psu implosion as well, urban poached those recruits heavily.
January 31st, 2015 at 1:58 PM ^
who would normally have been OSU commits. He took players that were fleeing the Sandusky scandal. That was mostly it and he had a whole month more than Harbaugh.
All of the biggest names on our board aren't announcing yet. I'd save my complaints until the class is actually set.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:21 PM ^
What do you expect? That Coach will just stop recruiting because it's unlikely a committed kid will flip? He is going to grind to the finish line, but the reality is that some of these kids are hearing from UM for the first time less that a week before they make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. It doesn't mean that Coach Harbaugh's efforts are wasted. It is just so late in the process.
January 31st, 2015 at 11:53 AM ^
he is firm to Iowa and has no plans to visit
January 31st, 2015 at 11:56 AM ^
Great balance. Good speed. If he had better blocking up front I feel like he may have been ranked even higher. He made most of his yards after contact. The kid creates. I hope we get him.

This doesn't bold well for getting Weber. Since Harbaugh met with him there have been 4 running backs offered. That just doesn't seem promising.

FIFY, Not sure what the problem was.
January 31st, 2015 at 1:33 PM ^
Disagree. Weber, by all accounts, is torn, so it makes sense to continue to recruit the position. It'd be irresponsible not to.
January 31st, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
I laughed out loud. We should have a rule on the board that you can only correct someone's grammar/spelling if it's going to be funny.
January 31st, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
Whoops, meant to reply to the "bolds well for me" comment.

Jesus. Go post on RCMB or something. That's just embarassing.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:16 PM ^
Congrats OP. Hopefully Higdon will choose M but either way, it's good to see that offer finally arrive.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:20 PM ^
Still not confident on Weber if we're still sending out offers. Keep griding I suppose.
January 31st, 2015 at 1:27 PM ^
I'd say the Higdon offer is a sure sign the staff has concluded Weber isn't leaving OSU.
Unless... unless it's a feint designed to take the pressure off of Weber by making the OSU staff think he's solid to the Bucks, until he pulls off the big switcheroo on signing day.
January 31st, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
Considering he was wearing OSU gear the day after meeting w Harbaugh, I think its safe to say we need to move on.
January 31st, 2015 at 12:31 PM ^
Jesus how freaking hard would it be to flip an Iowas RB recruit? Simply watch them walk into the room, point at their knees and say "son, if you like walking on your own I'd think twice about attending Iowa as a RB. I'm not saying you're absolutely going to get crippled if you play there but if you don't you'll be the first RB in school history to not need a walker and cane to pick up his diploma."

Here's hoping for speedy and complete recoveries for both Derrick Green and Drake Johnson, so that Karan Higdon won't be missed at Michigan.

Michigan Offer Doesn't Change Things for Iowa 4-star RB Commit
Karan Higdon has been committed to Iowa since October 28th, 2014; and with just days left before national signing day—that commitment won't change according to the 4-star running back.
Higdon's commitment to Iowa will remain intact even considering the fact that he just received a very big offer this morning from the University of Michigan. Higdon texted VOTH early this morning to relay that Wolverines' head coachJim Harbaugh had called and extended the offer to play in Ann Arbor.
Though Higdon did relay that that one of his high school coaches has ties to Michigan and that it "feels great" to pick up the offer from the Wolverines, he remained steadfast in what he's been telling us all along about his commitment to Iowa.
"All Hawks. Nothing different," Higdon told VOTH.
While the industry generated 247Sports Composite ranks Higdon as No. 40 running back in the 2015 class and only considers him as a 3-star; 247Sports ranks him as a 4-star. He's also the No. 29 ranked back in the 2015 class, per the 247sports rankings.
Higdon is 5-foot-10, 190 pounds and runs a 4.50 40.

that last name sounds familiar. i seem to recall a WR that may have played for iowa in the past.
edit: there was a TE that played for osu in the late 80s. that must be it. i'm old.

We have a 345 flight out of Tampa and we're about to get on the highway to get Karan to Ann Arbor. Wish us luck with this traffic lol. What a crazy day. Go blue :)

Michman, have you ever donated money to the program? I hope not, with all these recruiting rules and your inside info being posted here, got me wondering.

I think the whole being a coach thing could save him, but I am not sure

Good luck! Hopefully you guys get to AA with enough time to actually take it in. I'm sure the young man's head is swimming right now.

Does this mean the staff isn't too optimistic about Weber? Really felt like he would switch back to UM, but this offer might suggest otherwise.
January 31st, 2015 at 2:32 PM ^
Good. I really want to see how this kid turns out
January 31st, 2015 at 2:35 PM ^
To anyone who made the mistake I did by judging him based on his freshman film on youtube (in which he looked slow and weak) do yourself a favor and go watch his senior film on hudl. Its very impressive.

Seems like Weber wasn't going to flip anyway, so might as well start picking up some other decent recruits who seem open to a switch.
January 31st, 2015 at 5:40 PM ^
Karan Higdon in trying to go to the UM? If the kid want's to go to Iowa, then let him. There is no need for the extra stress on the kid. I can assure you Iowa will need him 10 times more than Michigan. I would rather have Michigan go for higher rated running backs anyways.
January 31st, 2015 at 7:24 PM ^
What are you talking about? No one is forcing the kid to do anything. And he sounds plenty talented. Finally this thread includes the kid's high school coach. Maybe you should sit this discussion out.

to build any kind of relationships in less than a month. Also what happens after NSD, not everyone signs on that day. Who knows there could be some good players after NSD that are still considering where to go.
I feel pretty good about this class when you think when Harbaugh started. All those other coaches have had a year or more to build relationships. Who thought some 6'-7" QB would be coming to Michigan this fall.
It's good to be Blue!
