let's go through each one
1. we'll see saturday
2 & 3. he also wrote on facebook that it was a joke and deleted both posts that even alluded to him not starting
4. i haven't heard or seen anything that should make anyone even think this.
Radio Announces UM Rumors
let's go through each one
Does anyone have the actual posts from facebook?
It's sad that we got a thread involving his facebook posts, but let's face it - we're all refreshing and responding to these threads. So really, the least we could do is actually get a copy of these posts, such that we at least know what we're talking about.
He posted "Terrible Day!!" as his status then posted a comment to that status "I won't be starting at Wisconsin, this sucks" and then deleted it a few mins later. I'm the 1st person who saw it and posted it on The Fort (which was dumb I know) but there was a mile long thread speculating that the original "Terrible Day" post could just be girl trouble or something so I figured I'd clarify. I didn't mean to cause such a ruckus. I'm not a Troll BTW love this school and program with all my heart. My bad
So it is more important to you to fellate all the folks at The Fort rather than give Tate his privacy, which he obviously communicated that he wanted with his deletion? You should re-check your allegiances.
You are totally right blueblueblue it was dumb on my part. I'm not making an excuse I was just explaining my obviously flawed thought process. I was wrong no doubt about it. Lesson learned for sure
In a limited way, I think you're right about Tate indicating a desire for privacy by deleting that post. However...I think we need to place some responsibility on athletes with regard to how they use facebook.
Tate already had that somewhat curious post about Greg Paulus ruining his career by backing up Tate. Somewhere along the lines I expect these kids, who grew up with facebook and text messaging etc., to learn to be careful about what they post.
Hell, even I watch what I post because I know that there are friends and co-workers who don't need to know everything about me. And I imagine people aren't nearly as interested in my facebook as they are in Tate's.
So, let's let this one slide, and then create an app that reminds Tate that the whole world (or whatever facebook's settings are) can view his posts.
"Warning: MGoBlog is watching. Are you sure you want to post this?"
After some thought, I agree. This whole incident probably taught Tate an important lesson about thinking before reacting publicly.
You do realize that Tate is not an idiot and posted that status with the intent of getting a rise out of the creepy fans who post on his facebook. He wanted a reaction and he got it. If he wanted privacy he would not have posted a controversial status on his public face book profile. Common' folks.
he shouldn't post shit on facebook. Facebook is voyeuristic bullshit. Don't want it diceminated, don't write it. Hey Tate, next time maybe post Michigan's plays on the first drive. That will really stick it to the man. Rediculous.
And I think that he is the right guy for the job and to be here at Michigan. If he transfers after not starting for one game that would be completely bush league.
I have no idea if he said this or not I'm just saying that if this would happen I would be extremely disappointed in the young man.
you shouldn't speculate what that would mean about him when he hasn't said or even intimated that he'd do such a thing.
not to mention during paulusgate he said he encouraged the competition and more or less said "bring it on."
You've seen what his brothers have done.. and considering how close that family is something like this wouldn't entirely surprise me. I was more expecting it a year or two down the road when DG became an animal, not now.
Forcier transferring would set the program back quite a bit -- Robinson doesn't have his polish or accuracy, and no matter how good Gardner is he will have the oh-so-familiar problem of being just a freshman -- and I really hope this doesn't happen. That said, we shouldn't be too worried about it. Let it play out. Surely if it's going to happen it's not going to be before the Wisconsin game.
As much as I like Tate, if it turns out he makes a habit of dipping his balls in the ranch dressing at retirement home salad bars, I'm really going to be disappointed in the lad.
You know, we could use some positive news about right now, like a DB or LB commit. Yeah, that would be great....
*Expects to see a FIRE RYAN ERMANNI NAO!!!!1 thread in 3... 2... 1...*
#4 seems far-fetched. Even if Tate doesn't play the first series, to encourage a transfer seems a bit harsh considering Tate has pretty much been given the keys to the program all year! Then again after the way Chris Forcier handled his transfer from UCLA (with a press release full of "facts" http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/danpatrick/blog/67101/index.html) and the existence of QBForce.com, nothing would surprise me, though this would come awfully close.
Ryan Ermani's sources are the same as Mike Valenti's: Rivals and Scout message boards.
and Spartan Tailgate threads he himself created
rumors- that's how World War I got started
If the Germans hadn't bombed Pearl Harbor, we would have stayed out of WWI.
if it weren't for my horse i wouldn't have spent that year in college
That is one of the great bits in comedy history.... +1
He's on a roll.
japan that bombed pearl harbor and it was world war 2. hence the reason why the USA dropped 2 nukes on japan.
that you are being sarcastic or that you are 10 years old and just can't comprehend any amount of sarcasm.
my sarcasim meter was off. i've been painting all morning in my basement so the fumes might have something to do with it. my bad...
Are you sure? I thought it was RR's call, and GERG is the one that led the kamikazes.
i like it. dry humor.
dad urging him to transfer? you can't completely rule that out given the family history with transfers but he is considered one of the top young QBs in the country even at 5-5. that would just be dumb. why transfer?
It would be excessively moronic for Forcier to transfer. It would just show that he doesn't have a backbone and runs away from adversity instead of facing it head on. As such, I don't think that he's going to transfer b/c I don't see Tate being that kind of guy, i.e. the Notre Dame game. But what is equally moronic, IME, is ever even starting Denard over Tate in the first place.... WHY!? Denard is a turnover machine. Just stupid. I don't care how good he looks in practice, RR repeatedly says everyone looks good in practice and we see how that turns out on Saturday.
If Facebook had been around at the beginning of June, 1944, the Germans would have found out just where the D-Day landings were going to be.
If FB had been around in 1776, the American rebels would have been so consumed with rumors and the info leakage would have been so severe that we'd all have pictures of the Queen on the wall in our living rooms today.
If FB had been around back then, the Persians would have defeated the 300 Spartans.
actually the Spartans lost by a margin less than 7 so it was a moral victory and a lesson learned. the oracle Drewsharpaclese believes they would have won the battle if a couple arrow shots had gone differently and they are a much better army than the result conveyed. instead of being a dead 300, they're more of a "288 dead, 11 injured" army.
Is that you, Bob?
if Facebook didn't exist you would have been paying attention during your Ancient Civilizations class and found out that the 300 Spartans died.
If Tate doesn't start, then it's almost surely a discipline issue, not a performance issue. Tate gives us the best chance to win and the coaches know it.
Perhaps the coaches want to minimize the number of hits Tate takes this week and see how Denard plays when he has some time out there to get into a rhythm. I don't really mind the change of pace, if that is why we're doing it. And as long as Denard's rhythm isn't sack, inc, (pick/fumble) then we might as well see what he can do with more touches.
"Then" I will jump off a bridge.
Why does everyone assume that starting means you will get the majority of the playing time? I could easily see Denard starting, but Tate still getting most of the snaps.
For instance, Wisconsin didn't start Clay for the first half of the year, yet he still got 2/3 of the carries in those games.
Starting at QB for Rodriguez seems to be a lot like starting for a basketball team - more symbolic than substantive. The starter won't necessarily get most of the snaps.
I'm going to need a new giant.
Are you the Miracle Max who worked for the king all those years?
The King's stinking son fired me, and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Anybody want a peanut?
the radio guy is repeating the earlier rumor (also on MGoBlog) about Tate's facebook page. Aside from that and some "friend of a friend" type stuff, nobody knows for sure.
Also, the O played well last week. I don't know why that is an issue.
Tate was in on every important/ critical play. I don't even remember Denard taking a snap last week (he may have had 1 or 2).
Why would RR do that, have Tate perform really well and then decide, "what the hell, I'll start Denard!"
If for some reason Tate doesn't start, it may be because he hurt his knee (maybe a sprain) last week, but came back and played through the pain.
RE his dad telling him to transfer: Again, this makes no sense. Devin Gardner isn't even at Michigan and hasn't even enrolled/ signed. Things can change from now to Feb and after having his 2 older sons transfer without a meaningful improvement, football wise, why have Tate quit Michigan this early?
while everyone's on his facebook, can you confirm or deny that he is, in fact, "Charlie" in the "What character from Always Sunny in Philadelphia are you?" meme because i heard on WDFN that he got Sweet Dee and that's bullshit
"TV (Radio in this case) said that?"
Idle speculation...no way Tate transfers within a year, sits out a year, learns new system etc. His brother left because Henne/Mallet were top 5 QB talents - I would have transferred too if I thought I could start at Stanford. His other brother wasn't a D-1 player and dropped a tier. I have no inside information, but I do know the Forcier family seems very smart and I highly doubt anyone in his inner circle sees a better scenario for Tate than Michigan as of today.
not to say i think tate will transfer, (i don't)
but devGard is definitely a top 5 QB talent.
As far as I know an incumbant starter wouldn't transfer based on the threat of a hot recruit...now if DG enrolls in Jan. and after spring ball, DG is the starter, that is a different story.
Speculation as of today seems premature (even for idle speculation)
I'm hearing Tate's dad is mad at RR? Now he could be telling his son to transfer.
Does anyone have any real background on this?
I heard these transferring rumors last night from some AA area journalists that we all trust here. I think Tate's initial facebook posts were perhaps reactionary and perhaps more true - a better look into what he was thinking. His retraction, like much back-stepping, was probably him, under the guide of others, dissembling.
my current Facebook status update is:
Every time you hear a Christmas song before Thanksgiving an angel dies.
If I see a thread started that says "Angels Dying Like Whoa" I will be very upset.
Am I the only one excited about a possible QB change???
I think you are. I also think you are a moron.
No, you are not.
The problem, as everyone and their mom have stated is that our defense is not playing well (due to many speculated reasons).
The offense, however is doing well (#25 at 32 points per game). I know that DSU is factored into that, but that isn't bad.
Tate's last 2 games have produced a passer rating of ~150 and he is averaging 130 for the year, good for #62 in the nation (right next to Stanzi and Pryor).
We all hope this isn't true because we don't want to look like we have a revolving door of starting QBs and DCs here. However, it seems very speculative with no hard evidence.
I feel he deserves a chance considering our team is 1-5 the past six games. He's shown the ability to move the ball downfield. Tate's numbers are a bit skewed from the start of our season.
I agree, I am not so sure Tate gives us the best shot to win. RR can't transform the defense in one week, but he can transform the offense. While we may think Tate gave us our best shot at winning - we haven't been winning. The shitty defense is a constant in the minds of the offensive staff - it has to be, they can't depend on our defense to miraculously get better. Or offensive staff needs to do something different - Denard is something different at this point (and even though RR claims both Tate and Denard get the same plays and schemes, I dont believe it for a second).
we scored 36 points last week...
do you honestly think we'll score more than that IF denard starts?
the kid manufactures turnovers like a WR playing QB... wait...
1) In case folks missed it, the offense scored 36 points last week. That should be enough to win in College Football.
2) While the Forcier brothers may have a history of transferring, I wonder if Jason regrets moving to Stanford. In all likelihood, if he had stayed at Michigan, he very likely would have started last year -- and depending on how he did, he might still be starting.
Or all of these conspiracy theories floating around are to throw Wisconsin and TUOOS off balance. One can hope.
Forcier is 18years old and is now feeling the weight of all of our dumb asses in one way or another creating pressure by saying we stink, or we will be better next year (same as saying we suck now), or saying he is playing well for a Freshman (same as saying you suck but its ok because your young). An eighteen year old is going to spin a lot of what we the fans and the press say as extreme whatever way it falls. Do you remember anything as a teenager that wasn't earth shaking? I think everyone just needs to let the kid be a kid and hope in the end he has the wisdom to do what is best for him.
Everyone needs to lay off Tate a bit. It's amazing to me the pressure this guy has handled which was plenty enough back in spring ball, ramped up at the start of the season, and has only gotten worse and worse...with much of it (all the piling on RR) out of his control. How many of us could handle this without completely cracking up? At his age? Tate is doing just fine. It's us fans who have the problem.
i can't imagine tate would transfer, but i can't imagine too many things that could be worse for us. the rr haters will be primed- they will be revved on the highest octane gas they could have been given. if denard doesn't learn to pass we would depending on another true freshman DG (if he does come as expected)- that smells like another really poor season. rr's protector in bill martin will be gone. don't know what that will all mean, but it's not harmony and good times.
hopefully, this is just tate and his dad being pissed about a small suspension due to a team violation. if that's the case rr is right and i have to believe tate and his dad will eventually realize that is the case.
although one player can create a lot of hell (per above) no one player is above the team. in this i whole heartedly agree with rr.
to kill me, but if Tate doesn't start, I think I want Sheridan to start. I love the potential of Denard, but if this is a one series suspension, I would start Sheridan, run the ball exclusively and move on, regardless of result of the drive. Denard's TO percentage is just too high to let a game start with a fumble or INT.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I think it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. If it does happen, the Robinson transfer rumors will fly all next week.
Could it be that RichRod plans on using Devin next year. This way Rich can show good faith to Drob by allowing him ample opportunities to prove himself as a viable quarterback so that Drob wouldn't get upset if at the end of the season Rich suggests a position change. This way maybe Drob feels like he really got his chances but isn't cut out for QB position and then he might be less likely to transfer.
I know this involves a lot of ifs but thats what we do on a blog...speculate.
Can't help but feel a bit bad for Tate. Every status is scrutinized, and I bet even things he says to friends is jumped on immediately by 30 obsessed fans.
Then again, if he wanted the privacy, he shouldn't have added 4,600 people as friends, either.
@#4: how in the world would anyone know what Tate's dad is telling them, assuming the conversations are between just those two?
...if it is true we can safely assume it was not just between those two. One or both of them relayed it to someone else and that is their choice.
Really? We're giving up if Denard starts?
Denard would be starting for one of three reasons:
1) Tate is injured.
2) Tate needs to be disciplined.
3) The coaches think Denard gives us a better chance to win.
None of those three options involves "giving up," whatever the hell that means.
Could be a combination of Forcier being banged up and just wanting a change of pace. RR may think the extra speed could make a difference in this game. Who knows - I just hope we win. If he transfers we'll deal with it later.
Or it could be that Denard can jog faster than anyone on Wisconsin.
The vast majority of sports talk radio is mindless, mispronounced drivel...yes, I am in west Michigan. But, having experienced excellent sports talk radio (Mike and the Mad Dog)thi stuff in Detroit exemplifies the slow sports day. What else is there to talk about--a CMU blow-out? Wings blow-out? MSU?-you've got to be kidding. Michigan is IT when it comes to sports or just about anything else in this state and this pile of steaming yard art is meant to stir the pot.
Don't come back
again this way
I hate you
you make me want
to throw my shoe
Tate Forcier is the quarterback of the future for Michigan. He has shown that he will give his all, that he can take all the shit thrown at him, that he can work with a coaching staff that has its collective head up its ass, and the in the end, if given a chance, he will deliver!!
Anyone who wants to see Denard under center, who trashes Tate==IF I ever see you in person, I will kick you in the junk.
Tate Forcier has been heroic--standing up and fighting the good fight with a coaching staff that is totally inept.
Again, read...this...carefully: If you say one goddamm thing negative about Tate Forcier--I will climb into your bedroom window, after midnight, and rip you to pieces. I will have no mercy on your pathetic soul, and it will be painful to the point that you will wish George Bush Jr was president again instead of me ripping the flesh off your bones and feeding it to the rats that hide under your bed.
