Radio Announces UM Rumors
Was driving in the car, and heard Ryan Ermanni on WDFN here in Detroit start talking about UM. Usually he is a bit of a UM Homer so I kind of half listen to what he has to say, but anything about UM Football intrigues me, so I left it on.
Now I saw bits and pieces of this on other threads, but nothing completely like he was saying on the radio...He stated that he has a source that is usually very reliable at Michigan and they stated the following facts to him:
1. Denard is starting on Saturday
2. Tate is not happy about this
3. Tate put some interesting comments on his facebook yesterday regarding this issue(this has been verified by a number of people)
4. Tate's dad is urging him to transfer, and he is considering it
Obviously all this is third hand to Mgoblog, but I figured if the guy who is a UM homer was saying this on the radio, maybe its slightly more reliable than your average internet report. Anyway I have no way of actually deducing the reliability of this radio guy's source, but thought I would put it out there so people could make their own opinion.
Lets hope its all just garbage.

I hope this is complete rubbish because Tate has stated all along he's into competition. But then again, the Forcier's have a history of transferring.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:17 AM ^
let's go through each one
1. we'll see saturday
2 & 3. he also wrote on facebook that it was a joke and deleted both posts that even alluded to him not starting
4. i haven't heard or seen anything that should make anyone even think this.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:22 AM ^
Does anyone have the actual posts from facebook?
It's sad that we got a thread involving his facebook posts, but let's face it - we're all refreshing and responding to these threads. So really, the least we could do is actually get a copy of these posts, such that we at least know what we're talking about.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:59 AM ^
He posted "Terrible Day!!" as his status then posted a comment to that status "I won't be starting at Wisconsin, this sucks" and then deleted it a few mins later. I'm the 1st person who saw it and posted it on The Fort (which was dumb I know) but there was a mile long thread speculating that the original "Terrible Day" post could just be girl trouble or something so I figured I'd clarify. I didn't mean to cause such a ruckus. I'm not a Troll BTW love this school and program with all my heart. My bad
November 12th, 2009 at 12:03 PM ^
So it is more important to you to fellate all the folks at The Fort rather than give Tate his privacy, which he obviously communicated that he wanted with his deletion? You should re-check your allegiances.
November 12th, 2009 at 12:09 PM ^
You are totally right blueblueblue it was dumb on my part. I'm not making an excuse I was just explaining my obviously flawed thought process. I was wrong no doubt about it. Lesson learned for sure
November 12th, 2009 at 12:12 PM ^
In a limited way, I think you're right about Tate indicating a desire for privacy by deleting that post. However...I think we need to place some responsibility on athletes with regard to how they use facebook.
Tate already had that somewhat curious post about Greg Paulus ruining his career by backing up Tate. Somewhere along the lines I expect these kids, who grew up with facebook and text messaging etc., to learn to be careful about what they post.
Hell, even I watch what I post because I know that there are friends and co-workers who don't need to know everything about me. And I imagine people aren't nearly as interested in my facebook as they are in Tate's.
So, let's let this one slide, and then create an app that reminds Tate that the whole world (or whatever facebook's settings are) can view his posts.
"Warning: MGoBlog is watching. Are you sure you want to post this?"
November 12th, 2009 at 12:42 PM ^
After some thought, I agree. This whole incident probably taught Tate an important lesson about thinking before reacting publicly.
November 12th, 2009 at 12:24 PM ^
You do realize that Tate is not an idiot and posted that status with the intent of getting a rise out of the creepy fans who post on his facebook. He wanted a reaction and he got it. If he wanted privacy he would not have posted a controversial status on his public face book profile. Common' folks.
November 12th, 2009 at 12:45 PM ^
he shouldn't post shit on facebook. Facebook is voyeuristic bullshit. Don't want it diceminated, don't write it. Hey Tate, next time maybe post Michigan's plays on the first drive. That will really stick it to the man. Rediculous.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:18 AM ^
And I think that he is the right guy for the job and to be here at Michigan. If he transfers after not starting for one game that would be completely bush league.
I have no idea if he said this or not I'm just saying that if this would happen I would be extremely disappointed in the young man.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:20 AM ^
you shouldn't speculate what that would mean about him when he hasn't said or even intimated that he'd do such a thing.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:28 AM ^
not to mention during paulusgate he said he encouraged the competition and more or less said "bring it on."
November 12th, 2009 at 11:21 AM ^
You've seen what his brothers have done.. and considering how close that family is something like this wouldn't entirely surprise me. I was more expecting it a year or two down the road when DG became an animal, not now.
November 12th, 2009 at 1:04 PM ^
Forcier transferring would set the program back quite a bit -- Robinson doesn't have his polish or accuracy, and no matter how good Gardner is he will have the oh-so-familiar problem of being just a freshman -- and I really hope this doesn't happen. That said, we shouldn't be too worried about it. Let it play out. Surely if it's going to happen it's not going to be before the Wisconsin game.
November 12th, 2009 at 1:59 PM ^
As much as I like Tate, if it turns out he makes a habit of dipping his balls in the ranch dressing at retirement home salad bars, I'm really going to be disappointed in the lad.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:20 AM ^
You know, we could use some positive news about right now, like a DB or LB commit. Yeah, that would be great....
November 12th, 2009 at 11:20 AM ^
*Expects to see a FIRE RYAN ERMANNI NAO!!!!1 thread in 3... 2... 1...*
November 12th, 2009 at 11:21 AM ^
#4 seems far-fetched. Even if Tate doesn't play the first series, to encourage a transfer seems a bit harsh considering Tate has pretty much been given the keys to the program all year! Then again after the way Chris Forcier handled his transfer from UCLA (with a press release full of "facts" http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/danpatrick/blog/67101/index.html) and the existence of QBForce.com, nothing would surprise me, though this would come awfully close.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:21 AM ^
Ryan Ermani's sources are the same as Mike Valenti's: Rivals and Scout message boards.

japan that bombed pearl harbor and it was world war 2. hence the reason why the USA dropped 2 nukes on japan.

Are you sure? I thought it was RR's call, and GERG is the one that led the kamikazes.
November 12th, 2009 at 10:00 PM ^
i like it. dry humor.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:23 AM ^
dad urging him to transfer? you can't completely rule that out given the family history with transfers but he is considered one of the top young QBs in the country even at 5-5. that would just be dumb. why transfer?
November 12th, 2009 at 12:18 PM ^
It would be excessively moronic for Forcier to transfer. It would just show that he doesn't have a backbone and runs away from adversity instead of facing it head on. As such, I don't think that he's going to transfer b/c I don't see Tate being that kind of guy, i.e. the Notre Dame game. But what is equally moronic, IME, is ever even starting Denard over Tate in the first place.... WHY!? Denard is a turnover machine. Just stupid. I don't care how good he looks in practice, RR repeatedly says everyone looks good in practice and we see how that turns out on Saturday.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:23 AM ^
If Facebook had been around at the beginning of June, 1944, the Germans would have found out just where the D-Day landings were going to be.
If FB had been around in 1776, the American rebels would have been so consumed with rumors and the info leakage would have been so severe that we'd all have pictures of the Queen on the wall in our living rooms today.
If FB had been around back then, the Persians would have defeated the 300 Spartans.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:30 AM ^
didn't they?
November 12th, 2009 at 11:40 AM ^
actually the Spartans lost by a margin less than 7 so it was a moral victory and a lesson learned. the oracle Drewsharpaclese believes they would have won the battle if a couple arrow shots had gone differently and they are a much better army than the result conveyed. instead of being a dead 300, they're more of a "288 dead, 11 injured" army.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:49 AM ^
Is that you, Bob?
November 12th, 2009 at 11:34 AM ^
if Facebook didn't exist you would have been paying attention during your Ancient Civilizations class and found out that the 300 Spartans died.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:23 AM ^
If Tate doesn't start, then it's almost surely a discipline issue, not a performance issue. Tate gives us the best chance to win and the coaches know it.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:32 AM ^
Perhaps the coaches want to minimize the number of hits Tate takes this week and see how Denard plays when he has some time out there to get into a rhythm. I don't really mind the change of pace, if that is why we're doing it. And as long as Denard's rhythm isn't sack, inc, (pick/fumble) then we might as well see what he can do with more touches.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:36 AM ^
"Then" I will jump off a bridge.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:38 AM ^
Why does everyone assume that starting means you will get the majority of the playing time? I could easily see Denard starting, but Tate still getting most of the snaps.
For instance, Wisconsin didn't start Clay for the first half of the year, yet he still got 2/3 of the carries in those games.
November 12th, 2009 at 11:45 AM ^
Starting at QB for Rodriguez seems to be a lot like starting for a basketball team - more symbolic than substantive. The starter won't necessarily get most of the snaps.

The King's stinking son fired me, and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed.

November 12th, 2009 at 11:26 AM ^
the radio guy is repeating the earlier rumor (also on MGoBlog) about Tate's facebook page. Aside from that and some "friend of a friend" type stuff, nobody knows for sure.
Also, the O played well last week. I don't know why that is an issue.
Tate was in on every important/ critical play. I don't even remember Denard taking a snap last week (he may have had 1 or 2).
Why would RR do that, have Tate perform really well and then decide, "what the hell, I'll start Denard!"
If for some reason Tate doesn't start, it may be because he hurt his knee (maybe a sprain) last week, but came back and played through the pain.
RE his dad telling him to transfer: Again, this makes no sense. Devin Gardner isn't even at Michigan and hasn't even enrolled/ signed. Things can change from now to Feb and after having his 2 older sons transfer without a meaningful improvement, football wise, why have Tate quit Michigan this early?
November 12th, 2009 at 11:33 AM ^
while everyone's on his facebook, can you confirm or deny that he is, in fact, "Charlie" in the "What character from Always Sunny in Philadelphia are you?" meme because i heard on WDFN that he got Sweet Dee and that's bullshit
