What a huge relief to have a reliable kicker - and one with range, too.  Imagine if we had to pooch-kick those 50+ yarders, or go for it every time.

I'd like him to have slightly fewer attempts going forward though.

It's really an awesome luxury to have a dependable leg as it really shortens the field for us. We can put points up without having to be in the red zone.

Also, as long as our best offensive weapon is our defense, Harbaugh can start going for more 4th downs and not making it doesnt kill us. It's a 1-2 punch being able to survive a TO on downs and score FG from deep.

I don't quite understand what point you're trying to make... are you saying that the extra points from those scores would be included in the defensive/special teams point totals? If so, then I guess it's mathematically possible that Nordin would have a higher percentage of those points than offensive points... but he would have to never kick a field goal or miss every single one + at least one extra point for that to happen.

Nordin is on pace to smash UM's single-season record for made field goals. Remy Hamilton had 25 in '94 (none bigger than the game-winner in South Bend) and Nordin is on pace for 44. Hopefully, the offense gets it together in the red zone and he doesn't make 40+ field goals this year.

The past decade, even chip shot field goals were an adventure. And not the good kind. Most of the time, kicking anything over 25 yards was usually asking too much. Meanwhile, it seemed like every other team in college football could easily kick 50+ yard field goals all day long.

He's been amazing for us this year. But we were loooooong overdue for a Nordin.

we had Bryan Virgil as our kicker.  He was not good - 4 of 13 to start the year.  Waiting in the wings was true freshman, Ali-Haji Sheikh.  Had to play him because we had no choice.  Had a rough freshman year, but turned out to be one of Michigan's best after that.

In 1979, think we lost all four of our games by a FG or less.  You don't appreciate a kicker until you don't have one, or games like yesterday.

Amazing what this redshirt freshman has done so far this year.  Not only the length - but the accuracy and confidence.

Glad the Mighty Quinn saw the light during the sleepover.  Getting his decommit from Penn State was huge.  So happy he is a Wolverine - Go Blue!

I remember all too well how bad our placekicking was in 1979. I really felt sorry, though, for what Bryan Virgil went through.

That season alone is a huge factor in why Ali Haji Sheikh remains to this day my all-time favorite Michigan placekicker.

I guess you're trying to be generous and spread the appreciation around to the team. I get it, but you can't give the offense much credit for those 50 plus yards kicks Nordin has made this season. I mean, that's not ideal FG range in college and those kicks were huge against Florida.
