Quick Question about Public Football Tickets

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on

As much as I would love to see the Cowboy Classic September 1st I can't afford it. I would however love to see the State game this October 20th because the game is on the day of my birthday. Does MGOBLUE ticket office release the State game tickets to the public or are they for students only? I need two. If anybody has any info on this please let me know. I might also go to the Shoe this year for the Ohio game as I do live in Cbus sadly.

There usually is not a public sale of MSU tix. They are usually a part of a ticket pack or available to victors club members only.

For last season the only way to get Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Ohio State was through the ticket package option with all packages including Eastern Michigan. ND was gone for all but single seats however I picked up two seats for OSU with no problem at all. With a soft home schedule and in state opponents those MSU packages will go very fast.

Last season I was able to get an Ohio ticket sans package the week of the Ohio game through the University.  I want to say it was Tuesday or Wednesday the week of the game and they were selling them for $99, not bad since FV was $85(and we won!!).  I would guess since they were sold that late, that they were ones that Ohio was allotted but couldn't sell so they returned them.  May get something like that this year with Sparty if you're lucky, but it might depend on how both teams are doing by Mid-October.  You could also try to check the Michigan Spreadsheet up under the MGoBoard tab once it gets closer.

I went down there in 1998 as a student, and in 2002 and 2004.  Unfortunately, we didn't win any of those games but I wore my colors proudly.  In 2002, I remember being particularly courageous (courage of the liquid variety) and yelling loud after every offensive play that Michigan gained positive yardage.  If any of you remember the 2002 game, Michigan totally controlled the game and the time of posession but couldn't get the ball in to the endzone.  They actually did once but the refs called a terrible offensive pass interference call on Braylon Edwards to nullify the touchdown.  Anyway, as Michigan consistently moved the chains and controlled the clock, the Ohio fans in our section were really nervous and didn't heckle us that much.  We were louder than they were for most of the game.  When it became apparent that they had won the game, they started to give us some crap but nothing too bad (no batteries thrown or anything else crazy that they've been known to do).  I have had pretty good experiences but consider myself lucky...other than the fact that we lost all 3 games.

I wouldn't count on any going to the public this year.  By the time that game rolls around, with the rivalry and everything, they're usually going for $100-$200 on resale sites which means they aren't just being passed around to the public from the ticket office.

mgoblue will link you to stubhub--very convenient for both sellers and buyers

likely -only umass will be available for direct public sale

prices will be over face value but there will a good range depending on location and the team's record!

I think there will be MSU tickets available but they'll likely be in a ticket package of three games and UMass will certainly be part of that package. Last season I picked up two seats for Ohio State (top row in the OSU section of sec. 7) but had to get Eastern Michigan, Purdue and San Diego State. It's highly doubtful to find any single game MSU tickets through MGoBlue.com so if you just want one game it could be tough or at least very expensive.

"People" huh?  It's some big conspiracy over here now based on my knowledge of and advice regarding how to buy UM tickets from the UM ticket office?  Which I have done for multiple games over the years?
