Questions re: new athletic director

Martin is retiring on September 4, 2010, the day of the UConn football game.
There are many names being thrown around, but David Brandon seems to be the popular frontrunner.

Hello Dana,
Welcome...I see you are mostly new here based on your total points. This topic has been quite extensively covered by one Brian Cook who runs the place.

Maybe others have new/improved info also.
Best wishes.

I'd assume the new AD would be named sometime in March to provide 6 months for the transition of power.

By using a high-end headhunting firm, UM is showing it doesn't want to anoint David Brandon without an extensive search first.
Mr. Brandon is perfect save for one thing: never been an AD, even at a community college.

Neither had Bill Martin. Or Don Canham. I'd rather have an executive than someone like the AD at Maryland or Colorado who have their departments too broke to fire their coaches.
