Question: Viewing UM/Indiana overseas

Submitted by rastafari on

A good friend (and big UM fan) of mine is in Okinawa and wants to watch the game Saturday. What options are there streaming, etc?

Ideas, thoughts???

Good call, overlooked that.  Maybe ESPN3 will have it then.

Whenever I see a request from out of US & Canada, I get excited because I want to hear about whether or not the BT live stream is worth the money or not.  I assume one day I'll need it.  But yea, you're right.

And there was no information for Saturday.  I'm sure someone will post something here if/when (hopefully when) it's confirmed to be on ESPN3.

ESPN 3 is unavailable overseas, but you can pay for ESPN Player, which costs 9.99 for a day and 14.99 for a month. They stream the games in good quality. If you go to ESPN and click on any ESPN 3 link you're redirected to the player if you're abroad.

I just checked and the game is streamed on ESPN.

You can use the free sites too, but justin.tv is a nightmare. You get kicked off all the time, quality is very choppy, annoying interface. atdhe.net was better when I used it for the ND game, but I ended up using IP masking to watch NBC's stream (you had to be in the US to watch it on NBC).

My attitude is if I can pay for it I will, but if I get better service for free I'll  take it. I've paid for Bigtenticket for the season and I pay for ESPN, and that gets me most of the games.

But it's not available if you have an IP address in Asia.

If you are in Okinawa, you can sign up for it if you have a VPN and use an IP address in Europe.

I'm deployed in Afghanistan, I've had to watch all the games on justin.tv so far. Except for the UMASS game, that wasn't broadcast by anyone unfortunately. I had to listen to it on internet radio.

Does anybody know if ESPN player allows for time delayed viewing if the game is still on, or does one have to wait for it to be finished to watch the game on demand?

Edit: To answer my own question:

Are full game available to watch on demand?

All matches that are originally broadcast live are available on demand, with a turnaround time of up to 3 hours after each match has finished before they are uploaded to the site.
