Since no team gets holding calls when we play them it makes sense to extrapolate that they won't get holding calls for the foreseeable future

The only apparent way to get a backfield holding call is to show up the officials when the call is ignored. And by that I mean by demonstrating with extreme prejudice that you are in fact being held by emphasizing by your movements that you are being held.

I mean I wouldn't suggest this as a strategy except that it has become painfully obvious that this particular call will only be made when a Dlineman is being tackled or so gratuitously having his jersey wrenched, you need the jaws of life to extract the guy latching on.

Sometimes, particularly in big games, when this tactic is employed, the results can be disastrous and lead either to further no-calls or actual unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against your team. Don't want that against Wisconsin or Ohio State.

Everything you need to know about Maryland football and interest therein in the DC area: this morning’s WaPo mentions the game twice. Once in a box of today’s games on the bottom of the front sports page and once in TV listings. There was more about the Michigan-George Mason Women’s basketball game than the Michigan-Maryland football game.

I predict that Maryland will get called for holding once....but Michigan's D-line will be called for "illegal hands to the face" twice

So I have had a conspiracy theory about this for a few years now. Despite having several awesome DL and awful OL in the last 8 years you don't see holding called much either way. My theory is that the B10 has told the officials to only call it when it is really bad and to barely call it at all. Why? Because they know our offenses in the B10 are not very good and further stifling offenses with a ton of calls would just make it worse. What incentive is there to call it 5+ times per game if you're Delany?

Get holding calls because were a young team and it doesn't count or some nonsense. I predict 1 holding call going our way on D and 2 pass interference calls going against us, 1 very questionable.
