Question: Devin Gardner

Submitted by rastafari on

What is the current status of the medical redshirt for Gardner? News? Views? Updates???

In advance I will apologize if this has been recently posted. I have been in northern Alaska with no ability to communicate other than with Kodiaks.

Devin will be going pro after his 4th season, with a Heisman trophy in one arm and a national championship ring on his finger.

I've heard multiple times now that Devin's status won't be determined until his senior year.  If that's the case though, why does MGoBlue.com list Mike Jones as a RS Sophomore saying he played in two games, had a leg injury, and was redshirted for the remainder of the year?  Jones technically played more than Gardner, but Devin played in the 1st and 4th games instead of the 1st and 2nd games.  I can't see a rule saying a specific date on which you played means you need to wait 3 years to hear the result compared to somebody who got it immediately?

I don't understand it either.  I've never heard of these things dragging out that long.  The only explanation I can think of is that Gardner himself has indicated that he isn't sure he wants to be in school five years, so it may be a moot point.

I don't think Demens got a medical redshirt, but a regular one. His mgoblue.com bio says he saw no game action during his freshman year.

Comparing Hemingway and Mike Jones, Hemingway's bio says "received medical redshirt," but Jones's just says "redshirted." And I don't recall any official word that Jones received a medical redshirt. So both the Jones and Gardner cases seem like odd ones.

I think the coaches or administration has seen the SEC articles about "St. Saban Memorial Hospital" and medical redshirts, and are questioning how truly injured Devin was.  I bet they are hoping he's good enough to go pro and that we have a stable of QBs to take over so they don't have to enter that gray area of trying to get him another year.

If you were out of contact in Alaska, you probably don't know this, but not too long ago, the Apocalypse came. Some people were raptured, some of us were left below. (most notably the entire OSU football team) Anyway, there probably won't be existence or football in three years, let alone a red shirt year for Devin. You really don't want to return to the lower 48 . . .

(Nobody tell him the thing was a bust - let's see if it fools him - prank of the century!)

No time for searches in Alaska between reading all the periodicals and keeping an eye on the Russians.  Plus the no night and what not.

While there are many wolverines, grizzilies and polar bears in nothern Alaska, kodiaks only live on the southern coast.  Hopefully you can communicate with the Wolverines of Ann Arbor this weekend, as it could be very exciting!

Guy asks an honest question  with an apologetic tone, and you fucks neg and blast the shit out of him.  I love this board, but sometimes I hate the cruel snobbery on it.  Also I've noticed that the level of crap you dish out relates directly to a newbie's point total.  Everyone on here was a newbie once.

Frankly, I'm thankful that so many M fans around the country still want to follow and suport the team.

Devin will be taking snaps under center on Sundays in 2014.  Book it.  So the redshirt issue will never surface.  It'll be either Shane or, possibly, Gunner starting for us in 2014.
