Question about purshasing single game FB tickets

Submitted by michgoblue on

Looking for some advice about purchasing single-game tickets.  I am planning to take my family to Ann Arbor for the Colorado game this year.  I have two kids ages 9 and 5.  Because we rarely make it back to Ann Arbor for a game, I want to get really good seats for the game.  With kids that age, that means seats between the 30 yard lines, and somewhere between 25-40 rows up (we have taken them to NFL games and the younger one has troubel following the game from much higher up).

My question:  What's the best place to get the tickets?  I can currently get 4 seats that suit my needs on stubhub for around $180/ticket.  Is there a better place to buy?  Also, does anyone have any advice as to whether tickets will go up or down as it gets closer to the season?

Thanks, in advance, for any help.

Also - think there will be any left to grab for the MSU game? I've got a reminder set to buy them at midnight but not sure if it'll be worth staying up as there might not be any.

There are 4 seats available in the front row of sections 33 and 34 right now for $85 a ticket. Your kids will love those seats. Close to the band and right on the field.

Front row isn't that great, the view will be blocked a lot and seeing action on the other side of the field will just mean watching the scoreboard.  between rows like 15-30 is the sweet spot imo.

I tend to agree with that - if you like being close to the action and / or you want kids to have the full experience of being at a college game, then closer to the field and even near the band is pretty ideal, I would think. I like to be a little higher than that myself as I am one of those weirdos that likes to "study" the action as it is happening rather than rely on the screen all the time, but it is all in what sort of experience you want.

Just be aware that rows 25-40 you will be standing for much of the game (which I really like). However, the 5 year old might have a very difficult time seeing the action when everyone stands, which will be constant.

I'm just guessing you'll be picking him up quite a bit. I've taken my 5 year old daughter to a few games and it's been an issue.

I would go ahead and purchase as soon as you can. With 2 small ones I would'nt want to take a chance on week of gameday to see if prices have come down on stub hub. Nor would i want to spend the morning of gameday looking for 4 scalped tickets. Have the tickets in hand and enjoy pregame / tailgaiting with your kids.

Honestly, I took my daughter to her first game against BYU last year, we were in the south end zone with the AWAY team and in the last row. It was cool because we could lean back and had more room. I could see fine from there and look outside the stadium when standing. Food for thought. I got them at mgoblue.

My experience with a 5 yr old at a game

- More important to be up a bit higher closer to one of the exits to get to the bathrooms, then closer to the field
- Being too close to the band may be too loud at that age.
- picking a game that Michigan should be up big early is good so that the fans around you are in a better mood which results in language being a bit cleaner, but keep in mind that your children will probably learn some new words, just try to roll with it (first year or two it bothered me, now my girls just understand that is part of the experience). Also, a game that Michigan should win pretty easily makes it less of an issue if the children head south and you need to leave early.
- think about shade vs. direct sun
- if you can, stay the whole game, don't fight the crowds out of the stadium. Hang out and take your time leaving the stadium.
-have tickets purchased before heading to Ann Arbor. With children, it is too stressful to go to the stadium without tickets trying to get a deal at the last minute.

I purchased my tickets for the Maryland game through the athletic department. I could have saved $20 - $30 per ticket going through one of the big commercial ticket vendors ( I wonder how the make money selling most tickets 20 to 30 off of face value?) but since I'm an alumni, I will help out my university. Even for the Maryland game the tickets left are scarce, most are only 1 seat. I found 2 seats next to each other a few weeks ago near the southwest corner before the endzone.

I've been a quadriplegic for 18 years and Michigan fan for about 20 years. I'm trying to attend my first football game. Does anyone know how good the handicap seats are and how much the tickets run for the first 3 games?

Thanks in advance
