Question about Justice Hayes

Submitted by dinsdale613 on

There has been discussion on the board about how Michigan will likely not take a WR this year.  This is most likely to the amount we already have on the roster.  That got me thinking about Justice Hayes, however.  i believe he was originally recruited as an athlete and was looked at as a slot type of player.  In fact, there is some belief he would actually be more suited for this role.  Now, with the seeming impending commitment of another RB more suited to this offense, is Justice still considered an athlete by this coaching staff?  I know Borges likes to use 2 back sets so they may want more rb's, but maybe the staff look at hayes as a WR recruit.  Does anyone know what they are planning on using Hayes for?

I wonder if he will be used in KR/PR, as some of the recruiting services have indicated he might. Odoms did a damn good job in the Gator Bowl considering he hadn't really handled that job since 2008 when he still had fumble-itus. Dileo showed flashes, although as someone pointed out he/Gallon/TRob might be the most likely to transfer to a system more suited to their skill sets.

Either way, Justice easily has the most entertaining twitter of any of the recruits.

Dileo was recruited with the understanding that Rich Rodriguez needed someone to return punts.  Playing receiver is the icing on the cake for Dileo.  But if Hoke wants him to stick around to be a KR/PR, I don't see Dileo wanting to transfer.  His role wouldn't really change.

Good point. We'll just have to wait to see who Ferrigno likes back there. It would be nice to have Dileo become the go to guy to prevent WR injuries (although to be fair, Hemingway's injury wasn't from KR and he did have one excellent return on the one returnable punt he caught this year.

The point is well taken about the size of the past running backs in their past campaigns.  The one thing that we would like to see is, by evidence of the board talking about the bowlingballsupthegut, is the A- Trains and the Ty Wheatleys and the Leroy Hoards type backs return to AA.  You may dash our hopes to imply that that is not their MO but people will wait patiently to see them first work with what we have and see what their first full class will look like.

I don't care what position he is playing, he's an athlete. He's one of the only recruits that have stayed fully committed through all the coaching drama. He's been recruiting for us and truly wants to be in AA, I'm not going to complain. I'm glad he's coming to AA!
