Question about D. Hart
Saw this exchange on the ESPN chat wrap. Is Hart really going to play CB at Alabama? This seemed odd. Come back Dee Al coached Cadillac and R. Brown!!!!
John (Charleston, SC)
What are the chances that Isaiah Crowell will commit with Alabama after Hart had such a good game in the Amry All-American game?
Craig Haubert

John - it should not have an impact has Hart is being recruited to play corner for the Tide

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this was talked about before he officially committed to Bama and we thought it odd then because they weren't taking him as a RB but as a DB/KR/PR.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
IIRC it was talked about in a newspaper article just before Dee committed to UM, but I don't think the writer included a source for the info and it was the only time b4 now that I heard it, so it seemed suspicious.

This. Ship. Has. Sailed.

Are those guys going to flush somebody's ashes?
January 19th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
they're flushing Cotton's ashes
January 19th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
I guess the question is: did they tell HIM that?
January 19th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
but i bet he could smell something like that.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
I'd assume he like the idea of playing along side HaHa. Damn you Saban, damn you.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Sounds to me like he'll be playing about 5 yards in front of HaHa. If they need a dime back. And their primary dime back gets hurt. And he grows two inches. At least.
January 19th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
then both HaHa and D. Hart can be on the field at the same time and talk about how D. Rob blew by both of them in Dallas, 2012.....
January 19th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
Always thought it was a bit odd. How he wanted to play in a spread but left to alabama which was recruiting him for defense. Oh well, on with Hoke-a-Mania.... unless D wants to come back, im ok with that.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
The name Dee Hart only brings up pain in my heart. Please forget about it and never mention him again.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
To be honest, he's Antone Smith part 2. 5-star, #1 APB, Recruiting drama, decommitments, then proceeded to be a bust. I'm over it. I'm happy we have great kids like Justice Hayes and Kellen Jones that aren't all about themselves...
January 19th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
any kid that decommits from michigan is all about himself.
decommitting from nd is okay though.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Justice didn't play any games, he had a change of heart and was honest from the start. Having a change of heart is ok by me. I'm not bashing Dallas Crawford...
January 19th, 2011 at 6:35 PM ^
He didn't get shown the love he and his family expected on his official visit so he bolted. Maybe someday he'll be a Big Ten RB, but he isn't one now. He arguably wasn't even the best RB on his HS team.
If you remember his recruitment, he was going to wait to see how a couple teams performed and picked ND even before the first game. Jumped ship after a bad start and not enough love and committed to us the next day.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Yes. Anytime anyone decommits from ND it is all right. Under any circumstance.
January 19th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Maybe we can get one of their six DEs.
January 19th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
Dee is one of the most down-to-earth, well-respected kids out there is this recruiting class. To suggest that he's all about himself because he didn't pick your school makes you come off a lot more self-absorbed than him.
January 19th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Thanks Mrs. Hart.
January 19th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
But he doesn't want to play for Michigan...HC change shouldn't matter that much if you're 'committed' to play at a school like Michigan. I wonder why we don't consider this a great filter for the class...we're getting the players that really want to come here, get a degree, and where the helmet proudly.
January 19th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
He started off the recruiting process down to earth, but it's pretty tough to say he remained so throughout.
January 19th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
I'm with the big guy on this one. Never again.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
He should reconsider Michigan. Our defensive coordinator coached Ray Lewis and Ed Reed so that has to count for something.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
Reed and Lewis are both at points in their career where they would make any DC look better rather than the other way around.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
I wonder why no one told that to Bill Sheridan and the 2009 NY Giants defense.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
At no point in my sentence did I say that Mattison did a bad job coaching the Ravens D. He maintained something that was strong to begin with, and that still speaks volumes. Looking at how the youth on the D has progressed in the past 2 years would be more indicative of what Mattison is capable of... and watching Suggs against the Steelers and the aggressive nature of their D in general made me quite pleased with the hire. Hopefully he can bring that kind of physicality and mentality back to Michigan's defense.

Please, please don't bring up Bill Sheridan. He was my NFL GERG.
January 19th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
Especially those parents who are concerned with academics and an NCAA investigation; even a phony trumped-up investigation.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
The answer is no. NO. NOOO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. NO!!!!!!O!O!N!ON!O!O!NONO!NO!NO!!N!O!!
January 19th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
a 5* RB and go...."you know, we could use him for DB depth?"
January 19th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
1. Look at Bama's RB depth charts
2. Reconsider question
January 19th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
welly welly welly you must be the smartest droog here georgie ol boy??
January 19th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
I just wish Dee was up for a little bit o' the old ultraviolence against B1G linebackers...
January 19th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
Actually, looking at Bama's RB's depth chart would lead me to believe he should stay at RB. Ingram's gone, and Richardson will be the starter next year, but Saban's shown he's more than willing to play 2 backs consistently. Next year Hart would be fighting with Lacy (4 star in 09, not that great in his brief appearances this year) and another 4 star in the '10 class for playing time as the 2nd back. After next year Richardson is most likely gone as well, so if Hart can cut it, playing time is there to be had, and early. In the '10 class alone they signed 6 DB's with an average star rating of 4 stars, so it's not like they're lacking talent in the secondary.
January 19th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
or not going to Bama. That would be genius.
January 19th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
Listening to Sirius, the Top Rb in GA is expected to give his love to Satan instead of staying home with Richt. When I heard that I wondered who would find that they no longer have a scholly next year. Now if Dee is playing CB that changes the equation just a little bit.
Good luck Dee. We'll know in 2012 if you made the right choice.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
To be fair, we apparently just told a 4* WR that we wanted him for DB even though we have no other WR's committed (unless we're still counting Hayes as a WR).
January 19th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
I have a Siberian Husky as well.
January 21st, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
You did change the subject.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
Alabama is replacing Ingram with an arguably better running back, and behind that RB is one who is just as good.
Seems reasonable on their part
January 19th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
Lacy is not on the same level as Ingram and Richardson.
January 19th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
We had a CB in the late 90's, he was a highly recruited RB prospect out of Fremont, Ohio....he wore #2.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
how about the ones against Washington and Illinois he got no credit for ?
January 19th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
He wanted to play corner though. Didn't seem that Hart had his mind set on that.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
He's also 6'1"... Hart is 5 inches shorter...
I guess Saban told him he'd use him like he used Javier Arenas or something... I'm not buying it...
January 19th, 2011 at 5:52 PM ^
That was my conclusion, that he'd end up as a Javier Arenas-type player. Not like that's a bad thing, Hart has the skills and Arenas was a game-changer, but it always seemed as if he wanted to be a RB.
