The first four teams out are North Dakota, Cornell, Notre Dame and Western Michigan. I went straight bracket integrity this week which resulted a higher seed UMD being sent out east even with a regional in their own state. Keeping them in St. Paul would mean an all WCHA matchup and with the Gophers there are they reallly needed? Putting them in Green Bay would result in the highest 1 playing the highest 4 (Ferris vs Minnesota in St. Paul) and the lowest 1 playing the lowest 4 (Michigan vs Atlantic Hockey Champ in Bridgeport).

If you can't get into college go to State.

That is a brutal regional at St. Paul. Those are probably the 3 teams I would want to play least in single elimination.

BU is very good, but BC has the tournament pedigree, Minnesota will be at home, and I am not enthusiastic about how we have played against FYS this year. A lot of years it seems like some random team gets a one seed and chokes it away (Yale).

BU did win the tournament two years ago. They're no slouch. I agree that BC has had better performances in the tourney in recent years.

Wow I actually completely forgot about that. I think i just gave up on the tournament after the Miami loss. 

Even so, the years of North Dakota, Minnesota, and BC seeming to dominate the tounament have conditioned me to want to avoid those teams at all costs.

Edit: That was the year Air Force upset us in the first round, so I just pretended the tournament did not happen that year.

why does michigan get the last #1 seed if they have 28 comps and the 5 and 6 seed have 28 comps?

What would this take for M to end up out east - either Worcester or Bridgeport.  I actually think there could be more M fans that make that trip, because Green Bay and Minny are not the easiest placest to get to.

 1. Both Ferris and Duluth end up as #1 seeds ahead of us.  As the fourth #1 seed, we'd get sent to Bridgeport.  This is more likely if Minnesota doesn't end up as a #4 seed, but might happen anyway.

2.  As a #2 seed, we could be sent wherever.  They might keep us in Green Bay for "attendance reasons" (because Ann Arbor and Green Bay are just a short 8 hour drive apart), but otherwise we'll be sent somewhere to keep bracket integrity.  As an example, if BC beats BU tomorrow, we lose our comparison to BC and probably win our comparison with BU.  That bumps us down to #5 and puts BC at #4.  BC would probably get sent to Bridgeport, Ferris to St. Paul, and Duluth to Green Bay.  We would go to Bridgeport with BC and probably draw Union in the first round.

Of course, since a team can drop about 6 or 7 spots right now with a single ill-times loss, this is a bit of a moot point until the conference tournaments start, but your best bet to see M end up out east is to stay right about where they are, and probably for Minnesota to win a few more games, especially if they end up in the same seed band as us.

Obviously OSU is running on fumes just trying to hold on to a tourney bid, so is Merrimack. Michigan State isn't a tournament team and neither is Miami, and pretty much any Hockey East team who is not BU or BC will be out in the first round.

All of the regionals look easy for the one seed except ours.

Denver, Merrimack and the AH Champ?
Maine, Northern and Miami?
Maine, Umass-Lowell, aand OSU?

I only see maybe one good teams out of each of those regions. Our regional would be death

Is Ferris officially for real this year?  I mean, I know they were doing well, but we swept them so easily and based on their history (or lack thereof) I kinda just ignored them, but then all of a sudden they sweep Notre Dame and now their #1 in the PWR.  Are they really playing THAT well, or even like #1/#2 NCAA seed well, or is it just an artifact of them getting enough lucky breaks to win enough games to put them in this position?

The CCHAs parity and strong out of conference means that whoever wins it is going to probably be number 1 in PWR. I don't know Ferris' schedule in depth but I know we only played them twice. Notre Dame has been struggling so I took that sweep with a bit of skepticism. If they win the CCHA tourney by going through the hot teams (Michigan, Miami, MSU or the like) I would give them more credit.
