Purdue ticket question(s)

1. Can anybody tell me which section (in Ross-Ade) is the Michigan section?  I assume tickets in the visitor section are only available through the Alumni Association?

2. Anybody have advice or experience to share on buying tickets in West Lafayette on the day of the game (i.e., location, price to pay, etc.)?  Michigan is considered a "premium" game at $46 per ticket.

3. Any other game day advice for a Purdue road trip?

4. Just for fun (since we're on the subject) -- any other MGoBloggers going?  With or without tickets?

(A bit ironic that I actually went to Purdue for my freshman year in '90 -- before transferring back "home" to U-M -- and can't answer any of these questions.)

Side note: I scanned several pages of the Board and performed a site search to make sure this hasn't been covered.  However, there's no way to date-sort the Board or search results.  Am I missing something?

If only Coach Mo hadn't gotten so drunk.

It looks like it doesn't specify what seat you get, it just says Price Level 1 at $46 a ticket.

They have better deals.  Most of the U of M section is in endzone section 130, 131, 132 also I think 101 and 102. 

 

Not a lot of parking near the stadium, get there early.  I am taking the family and went the last time U of M was there.  

There will also be plenty of cheap tickets for sale outside the gate.  Enjoy!

The last time I went (around 2004), the Michigan section was behind the endzone in the open part of the horseshoe.  Purdue was pretty decent and came in with only 1 loss and I already had tickets, but I approached a scalper by the basketball arena just to see what the market was like and he had a whole fistful of tickets and from "negotiating" with him, it was definitely a buyer's market.

Fast-forward to today: both teams aren't as good as they were back then, so, I doubt the game sells out (especially with an early kick time).  Worst case you should be able to buy them for face at the box office if you can't negotiate your way in for less.

I got my tickets with the UM Indianapolis alumni association and we are in 131. I believe that closed end of Ross Aid is where the visitors sit. I know a bunch of Michigan fans are sitting there too.

There are all sorts of tickets on Craigs List - Lafayette (and I would guess Craigs List - Indy).  If the weather is nice, my Dad and I will just buy tickets before the game.  I suggest you take a print-out of the seating chart (chart?  chart) so you know where the tickets, you're going to purchase, are located.  Hope to see you there!

As a Purdue student and a devout Michigan fan I can tell you that you can park on Waldron Street for free anytime, and usually parking is free in the garages without paying. If you can't find parking there the fraternities on Waldron street have parking for a nominal fee, maybe 10 or 15 dollars. As far as buying tickets here there are a few scalpers here however it is no Big House, I know one guy who always stands at the corner of University and Waldron. Also as far as your Purdue experience, you might want to go the XXX Burger (its a family restaurant. They have amazing burgers, best in town, and great root beer

Yeah, well... I'm gonna go build my own theme park, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the park!

Visited for a tour in high school. mgoblue720 isn't kidding about XXX, it's awesome. Also, it's been featured on the Food Network (Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives I think?) The atmosphere at the game I went to was pretty calm. There's a lot of trains and choo-chooing, and "boiler-ups" (lolz), and the banging of an over-sized drum. It's fun. It's cute. It's like watching football in one of these: Toy Ross Aid

My son is a soph at Purdue and I got 4 tickets thru the Purdue ticket office long before they were available from our alumni assoc. Purdue did not know where I was from and mine are in section 102 (around goal line) row 69. He says this is the frats biggest tailgate w/e. Many do not go to the game, just an excuse to party.

I don't have my tickets in front of me so I'm not sure where we're sitting.  Any ideas on good hotels to stay at nearby?
