Purdue Coach Hope Blames Noise for Loss

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

In the Purdue interview this morning, Purdue Coach Hope blamed their loss on the crowd noise.  He discussed the fact that the O-Line did not "fire-off" at the same time and this caused problems for the offense.  He went on to say that he thought the team was used to the noise because of the PSU game.

I guess he forgot to mention that the M D-Line dominated and man-handled the Purdue O-Line.  Also, the M O-line opened gaping holes for Fitz and Mike.  Certainly an interesting spin on the poor performance of his team.

Does anyone have video of Hope jumping up and down like a school girl after Purdue scored on the opening drive?  He is just so embarrassing.  How do Purdue fans put up with him?

Watching the highlights, it sounded like it got pretty loud in there early in the game when Purdue was moving the ball.  Glad to hear that crowd noise is making  big house a tougher place to play.

I was in section 3 and it felt like a funeral. The only time you could stand up was when the play was on our side of the field. It also didn't help that I was in the first few rows above the handicapped/concourse level which means that since you're separated from the fans below, you don't necessarily "need" to stand up when everyone else does to be able to see the plays. Rocket Man flew over while I was in the concourse since I arrived late, but,let me tell you -- that was one LOUD noise!

I don't remember them getting any false starts because of the noise.  So then, the line was being overly hesitant because they couldn't hear the snap counts?

In any case, I love to hear this.  The noise level was pretty mild I thought.  The loudest I ever remember it was last year against Iowa when it looked like we were mounting a comeback, and earlier this year under the lights.

And it sucks.

However, it also had nothing to do with Purdue losing.

Hey coach: your team is not good.  Your defense is ok, but that's it.

Have fun playing a pissed off Wisconsin next week, at Wisconsin.  They're going to dismantle you.

I'm pretty sure the noise didn't score touchdowns and play good defense.  Actually, I think our defense has its debut nickname.  "The Noise"

Didn't stop them from getting our line to jump offsides multiple times on tricky snap counts.

Hope is a second-rate coach at a mid-tier program looking for excuses for why his team consistently underperforms.

Believe it or not, out of all the games I've been to this season (couldn't make UTL), this game was the loudest I've heard my section get (section 6, row 11).

So to answer the question in the other thread... nothing is wrong with the students then. We may be showing up late, but according to Coach Hope, we still have an impact on the game.
