Purdue Announcers: Larrivee, Martin, Thompson (BTN)
Wayne Larrivee, Chris Martin, Charissa Thompson
(Via AwfulAnnouncing)
Not really a surprise as they tend to get the BTN noon game.
I'll throw it out there that previous Larrivee/Martin broadcasts have drawn more ire from our fans than Ward/Bentley. I'm one to say that I'd rather have Pam Ward. Now that is a statement.

I just died a lot inside.

has got to start aging a little-retire for god sake. He was seriously like in the middle of his career when he called Jimmy King's gamewinning heroics against Iowa in 1994. (That ball clearly went off Fife - but we'll take it Ref) Has been calling Bulls games since 1987 I believe.

Thank goodness someone told me I could have their extra ticket this week.
On a side note, Michigan has never lost when I was in attendance. However, the list of teams I've seen are: Rice, Eastern Michigan, Iowa, Ball State, and Miami(OH). So take that with a grain of salt.

Awesome. I look forward to hearing the word "partner" about 475,000 times in a three and a half our span on Saturday.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:28 AM ^
For the record, that would be about 53 partners per second, which might actually produce an ear-pleasing low-pitch hum in contrast to the normal painful listening experience.

I don't usually up-vote AND comment to tell someone good job... but good job.

thats funny partner!!!!!

Sure, it is annoying if they are bad, and I definitely appreciate a well-called game.
But on the whole, I'm so focused on the game that I don't really hear a lot of what the announcers are saying anyway. More frustrating to me is bad video editing/production, when you miss parts of plays or they show crappy interest pieces / shots instead of interesting replays.

I'm guessing you have never heard these two in action before.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:16 AM ^
This just made me even more excited to be going to the game.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:17 AM ^
Two words for you: Charissa Thompson
Even though I will be in attendance, you could give me 3 hours of Larrivee if it meant a combined 3 minutes of Charissa Thompson. I'd take that every time.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:19 AM ^
Yeah, I meant to mention that. This is like Pam Ward being paired with Erin Andrews. The announcing is worse, but the sideline reporter is better, IMHE.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think the last game she did (EMU, I think) I took more pictures of her than the action on the field...astounding!

The EMU game, I remember it well. Happy times those were, the football team won and mine eyes got all the candy they could handle.

How have I not heard this name before??? View at your own risk.

I can't wait to hear Larrivee's comment, probably some time in the second quarter, on Michigan going to a no-huddle look to step up the tempo of the game.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:41 AM ^
Made my ears bleed.
November 4th, 2009 at 11:50 AM ^
CRAIG RAAAWWWWW!!!
November 4th, 2009 at 11:47 AM ^
The only thing I'm concerned about... is our Center still a super hero?
November 4th, 2009 at 11:48 AM ^
Chris Martin attempting to set the record for the number of times he can say the word "football" during a football broadcast.
Normal human being: "on defense"
Chris Martin: "on the defensive side of the FOOTBALL"
he tries to insert the word "football" any place he possisbly can. Good analyst, knows his stuff, but a terribly annoying speech pattern, IME
This is almost as annoying as Larivee's ability to pronounce names (second only to Pam Ward)
But, I agree with you, MH20, there is that silver lining...
November 4th, 2009 at 12:04 PM ^
As much as I would love to join watching the BTN broadcast, I'll be in the Big House infiltrating the Purdue section. Enjoy these asshats as they comment on not switching back to the play in time!
November 4th, 2009 at 12:25 PM ^
if michigan is winning, i am all "amen, brother!" and "hmm, a freshman walk-on, interesting" and "good point, pam"
if michigan is losing, i am all "obvious. shut up" and "who cares about east saint louis? shut up!" and "duh - just shut up"

Mute. Which actually solves a lot of rage.
November 4th, 2009 at 12:44 PM ^
Hopefully we can have some rugged runs and give the opposing team the skittles.
