I was checking through college football news(yes that CFN), and saw that the line for the game is Purdue -12? Huh? Is this accurate, or did CFN just fuck up?

Or... wait for it... it might have been a JOKE!
Or participate in a 401K?
When interviewing, check your d-baggery at the door.
Wolve318: nope it is correct. Purdue sucks that much.
Incorrect: Correct line would be Purdue +12 which prompted this reply by Beavis.
You have clearly never bet on college football. Or you were high/drunk when you posted that.
You haven't been paying attention to the general mood of the blog if you think this was an asshole comment. You responded with:
well you are right, because I think gambling is perhaps the most moronic of hobbies.
Now this is an asshole comment. You are getting defensive and basically called anyone who gambles a moron. I gamble occasionally. I can sit at a casino for a few hours and I may lose some cash but you know what? It's the price of entertainment. It's not your thing, but don't pass judgement on those who do enjoy it.
Beavis postulated that you have never bet on football OR you were high/drunk.
Since you have never bet on football, the second half of his comment does not apply.
An alternate response from you could have been "you are right, I do not gamble" and everyone goes on their merry way but, instead, you chose to insult a good portion of this blog's users.
Stick to telling people you have a Ph.D in nuclear biomechanical quantum engineering, WolverQUEEN.
Have you threatened anyone on this forum yet?
Also, some people enjoy gambling, win or lose. Though I rarely gamble on sports myself, blowing $20 betting on a parlay could be more entertaining than taking someone to the movies for the same price.
That's fair. Then say, "gambling's not for me" instead of calling it moronic.
Had you said, "oh jeez, I didn't realize that's how betting lines work, thanks" the conversation wouldn't have gone any further. But you had to become mister defensive instead.
HAHA, after all of this arguing.....The "Lebron" comes out and totally foold everyone. Love it.
well done. had to get that at least out of the negatives...
Great thing about posting on blogs is that you get 'free therapy'. Hope your day improves! :D
just read all that crap?!
You clearly have some anger issues you should work on over at Mlive.
i've seen anywhere from -11 to -13. so -12 is about right.
But from a betters stand point saying the line is from 11-13 is funny when it comes from someone called ish
Yeah it is. I think some people even got it at -14. I'm surprised there hasn't been enough action to bring it down even more.
make a bet
It should read Michigan -12 or Purdue +12.
Good catch. This is the correct answer.
Thats a relief. I was thinking, how in the hell is Purdue favored to win this game, by 12 points?
BetUS has Mich at -12.5
No that's accurate. Purdue is really bad. I'm considering taking Michigan less the points.
If that line were accurate, they'd be predicting Purdue to win by 12 points. Needless to say, it's inaccurate.
Oh, right. I read that as Michigan -12 by stating I'd take Michigan LESS the points. I guess I'm used to people being surprised that Michigan was favored, not the other way around. :-/
EDIT: That said, I do understand gambling lines and will not proceed into epic mgomeltdown #2 on how spending money on one's own entertainment is moronic.
I am starting to see a pattern here of people with Stewie avatars not understanding gambling lines. Very telling.
I think M will win, but I don't think we can take anything for granted with the defense the way it is. Also, Purdue will no doubt see a game against Michigan as a chance to make their season.
I dont' care if it's by 1 point
Or 2 points in triple OT...
Anyone know the over/under? That was insane that is was set at 131 last week!
131? I know we score a lot and let everyone score on us a lot, but that's ridiculous. I would take the under if it was anywhere near that. I'd guess there will be around 105 total points.
Umm, pretty sure that was a joke. No, the over/under was not 131 last week. I don't think anyone was actually predicting 67-65 last week.
105 total points is equally nuts. Sure its in the realm of possibility, but a tip -- if you ever see that line, take the under, because it's a typo. (Unless we're talking basketball).
Over/under started at 57 last week, I saw it, giggled a little bit, then put a check mark next to it. It came in in the first half!
O/U is 61.5. Moral dilema - bad to take an O/U on your own team? I never do.
In other news, Utah -4.0 at Notre Dame? That seems like a steal, TCU destruction notwithstanding.
Spread started at 5.5 and dropped. No sure which side is a "steal", but the big betters are concerned. Currently 90% of the bets are coming in on Utah ...
The over/under is 61.5 this week. Im guessing thats sarcasm (?). Last week the over/under was 58.
Yep, had the win on the over by halftime last week.
was 57 I think. Quite interesting as we were favored by 2 ( they were right ! ) and our D was averaging 35 points against per game !
Anybody remember when Illinois was the lock of the week? This is why I don't bet on sports.
Also: I have a gambling problem so I'm not allowed to.
You know, Illinois did cover.
"forget it, he's rollin."
I'll admit, I was down on the team and happened to be in Vegas that weekend, so I put $25 on Illinois on the assumption that either we'd win, and thatwas worth $25 to me, or we'd lose, and I could buy some beverages to drown my sorrows. Instead, we win an epic game in about the only way possible that gets Michigan bowl eligible AND wins me money. I about knocked over the blackjack table I was at when the last 2pt attempt failed.
EDIT: I'll also admit this makes me a horrible person.
Well, they had to cover at least SOMETHING in that game, because it sure as hell wasn't our receivers.
scored many more points against a Michigan defense the last two years than most thought going into the games.
This might be a sucker bet.
"Purdue has scored many more points against a Michigan defense the last two years than most thought going into the games."
True enough, but then again our offense was pathetic in 2008, average in 2009, and DILITHIC in 2010.
