TCU accepted the Big East's invite!!!!!
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU has accepted a bid for full membership to become the 17th member of the Big East Conference, effective July 1, 2012.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
Maybe it hit the board earlier and I didn't see it, but it's not really old news because it was being reported that he wouldn't be there.
November 30th, 2010 at 5:55 PM ^
Al Gore invented the internet, Jim Tressel is cool and that the world will end in 2012
November 30th, 2010 at 5:59 PM ^
Well then they went 1 for 3. I'll let you figure out which one they were right on.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:24 PM ^
Well, I might as well cash in my 5 year CD, I guess.
November 30th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
I don't know how good their information isFrom what I know about that show, probably pretty shitty. Although maybe they know something that we don't. Probably not.
November 30th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
In other words, they're lazy and stupid as usual.
November 30th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
I think they're just misinformed.
FWIW, they both said that RR has done enough to be kept around for at least another season.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:24 PM ^
I thought I heard Wilbon say that they should fire RR and bring in Harbaugh?
Dan Patrick, on his radio show also said that Harbaugh was coming to the banquet. But I doubt they have the facts straight.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:23 PM ^
Jack Harbaugh will be attending the banquet on behalf of his sons. Unfortunately, Wilbon and Patrick don't know the difference.
/joking...
November 30th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
It's not like Brandon can't call Harbaugh if he wants to speak with him.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
That's not how coaching changes work. It's all about meeting in dark alleys or undisclosed locations and communicating only in hand signals, head nods or a near dead dialect of coach speak. "No" means "yes", "yes" means "no" and "maybe" means "set the place on fire and run."
Trust me, I learned all about it from Les Miles.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Boobs, please?
Edit: Thank you Hail 2 Victors
November 30th, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
it would be an opportunity for Harbaugh to directly address the current team and players. It should help with attrition should Harbaugh be the next coach.
It also gives Harbaugh an opportunity to directly talk about his feelings for Michigan Football and the University of Michigan in general.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:15 PM ^
lol i doubt it would help with attrition.. A lot of players specifically went there to play for RR, not just to go to michigan
November 30th, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
But since Brandon has made it clear that RR is the coach for the bowl (if not beyond), how exactly would Harbaugh address the team? Think RR would be okay with that?
I hope he doesn't come to the Bust. I don't want it to turn into a circus. The Bust is, above all, about honoring the graduating seniors from the 2010 team - guys who won't play for Harbaugh in any event.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
So what, in the middle of the bust, Harbaugh is going to walk up to the current players and start addressing them. Would his address start out with:
"Hi, my name is Jim Harbaugh. You may remember me from such great moments in Michigan history as the 1985 OSU game. While DB has not addressed the topic publicly, let me give you guys some inside info - RR is gone. Canned. Fired. What's his deal anyway? Since I will be announced as your HC on January 2, let's take some time to get to know one another . . ."
As for talking about his "feeling for Michigan Football," again, do you just expect him to run up on stage, gram the mic and profess his love. I am imagining RR getting up to address the crowd when JH stands up, bumps RR aside and grabs the mic Kanye West style and says: "Look, I just want everyone here to know that I love Michigan football. I do. I still know the fight song by heart. Don't believe me? Well here it is. (JH proceeds to sing the entire fight song perfectly in tune). I want to be your coach. I bleed blue and I piss maize - no, really, I piss maize.
This just makes no sense. If JH wants to campaign for the job, I imagine that as a former FB great, he can get in touch with DB pretty easily in private.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
Well said.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
Now THERE was a head football coach actor spokesman.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:55 PM ^
If he stands up in the middle of the bust and starts "addressing" the team, I DEFINITELY want him as our coach. That'd be ballsy, man.

Please be advised that you have violated the Prohibition on Coaching Change Opinions Act of 2010 (hereafter, the "Act"), profligated by Profitgoblue on November 30, 2010. In particular, you have violated Article 2(a) of the Act which states, in part: "Thou shalt not, under any circumstances, discuss Jim Harbaugh in connection with the Michigan head coaching job until Rich Rodriguez has officially been relieved of his current contractual obligations."
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 3 of the Act, the minimum fine for this violation is the loss of one (1) MGoPoint, with the maximum to be determined by the MGoCommunity.
Please be further advised that, pursuant to Article 5 of the Act, if you dispute the application of the Act to your thread/post, you have twenty-four (24) hours to "file" a formal written appeal by replying to this post. All appeals will be considered on their merits as soon as practical, unless deemed to be frivolous by Profitgoblue in his sole discretion.

I still don't understand why people like that show so much. It's not even really a debate show. They usually agree with each other, but just try to yell and talk over each other. Though I have to admit, there's nothing better on TV at that time so when I'm faking a sick day, I watch it too.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:05 PM ^
What is up with all this PTI hate?
November 30th, 2010 at 7:16 PM ^
arrogant, hateful pricks who talk shit and get it all wrong much of the time. Just that.

I'm an arrogant, hateful prick that frequently talks shit and you, sir, are discriminating against my people. What do you have against my people?
November 30th, 2010 at 7:59 PM ^
i don't mind WIlbon, but K-Heiser is a total douche. He never has anything positive to say about anything.

Should be even easier, then. Look for aircraft registered to Stanford U.

My Dad breathlessly called me here in my office to tell me what they said. If they got it wrong, that's weak journalism by two fairly well-respected journalists. Just sayin'.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
Now that Wilbon is about to officially no longer work at the Post, neither of them are journalists. They are commentators and their purpose is to sensationalize...which I might add they do a generally fantastic job at (I guess ESPN pays better than the WaPo).
November 30th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
Just curious (and didn't want to start a thread to ask), but has Harbaugh been getting bombarded with questions about the Michigan speculation at press conferences and other media events? I haven't seen anything here, and was curious. Remember last year when Kelly was the front runner for the ND job, even before Big Charlie was fired, Kelly was being repeatedly asked about his interest in the ND job, forcing a series of "right now, I am just focussed on preparing my team to play . . ." responses.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
His standard reply is "I don't talk about any other job than my own." He does so again in the piece I linked to above.
November 30th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
Well, since Jimmy's 11-1 Stanford team drew all of 38,000 for their last game against Oregon State, it might be the case that people out there just don't care enough about football to ask him.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
Stanford fans may not care much about attending football games, but, with their 1600 SAT and 36 ACT would suggest, they like asking questions.
"Coach Jim, why do you have a $50,000 private toilet when only 25,000 fans showed up for games?" - Lawrence, finance major...
"Coach Jim, were you with Tiger the night you ran a stop sign and got pulled over?" - Michelle, political science major and golfer...
"Coach Jim, how does a BGS in Sports Communications qualify you as a faculty member of the premier academic institution in the country?" - Bill, professor of psychology...
/joking...

Stanford, so lame, sooooo lame, oh man, sooooooo lame. Regardless of how this shakes out, Stanford does not deserve Jim Harbaugh. They deserve to perpetually be the Indiana of the Pac-10, with their soulless, country-club of a campus, rinky-dink stadium, and their student body of nerdy nebbishes.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:26 PM ^
Anyone else get the giggles when they read the words "Football Bust"?
November 30th, 2010 at 7:33 PM ^
Can't say I do.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:35 PM ^
Communist Football for setting the record straight by quoting the Pac 10 Conference Call. Sorry to the board for the unnecessary drama.
November 30th, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
that Nick Saban wouldn't have had any better results had he coached the defense.
Did anybody catch Desmond throw the pimphand on Herbie Saturday on Gameday? Herbie was asked his view and proceeded to say that .......... and before he finished Desmond reminded him of what had happened 3 years ago when "people" guessed on what was going to happen. I loved it!
November 30th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
Desmond was on the search committee with Dave Brandon in 2007. Brandon's pimp hand has instructed Desmond how to prevent the "Herbie Cock Block" from happening again.
Knowing this fact, I wonder how tenuous RR's position has to be, as Desmond's support for him has been tepid at best.
November 30th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
Are you talking about the search comitte as in the one that eventually hired RR? I thought that was Bill Martin still?
November 30th, 2010 at 7:58 PM ^
Herbie had nothing to say to that.
It was awesome.
November 30th, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
Michael Wilbon sucks. Did he really just say why leave Stanford because they'll "throw you a parade" every time you go 11-1?
They can't even fill the stadium, you lazy hack!
