PSU trying to replicate the dreds

How seriously is Penn State's Evan Lewis taking his scout-team assignment this week simulating Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson? "They let him wear a wig with some dreads on it," Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti said with a chuckle Wednesday during a teleconference.

At least they didn't put him in blackface?

Had this immediate vision of Paterno bringing levity to a presser and pulling a Ditka from his Saints' days. Call it a momentary lapse of reason.
That's why you'll never hear me gripe about a thread title that creates a little mystery.

""He does a real good job," Mauti said of Evans. "He's a real good athlete. He gives us a real good look. This kid is shifty and he's making guys miss all week. Obviously, he's not going to have the blazing 10.2 100-meter speed (of Robinson), but he's shifty and he's making guys miss."
If the scout team guy is making them miss, I'm optimistic for Saturday

So......remind me again why he's not our starting QB Coach P?
Coach?
Coach!

You'll probably have to ask Coach to turn his hearing aids up, they were playing that "goddamne racket music"
translation.. rap.

he must be getting a chance to make guys miss in the open field as well, which says something about the scout team o-line being able to handle psu's D...our o-line is going to dominate this game, denard is going to go off, will only need 15 carries to get to 150+. shaw goes for 100 and hopkins gets 65.

racism is so funny

It's jokers like you who make people distrustful when there are legitimate racist things to be angry about. Boy who cried wolf and all that.

I'm not sure this is a huge deal or anything, but it's not exactly the most tactful thing the Penn State football team has ever done.

If you can't see this for the joke that it is then I don't know what to say to you. By this logic everything Dave Chappelle has ever said was racist.

was using irony to critique and challenge the way that American society treats issues of race. It's a pretty huge stretch to suggest that's what PSU was doing with the dreds wig. I have no doubt they did mean it as a joke. But, like, Amos 'n Andy was a joke too. That something is intended as a jok doesn't mean it can't also be offensive. (and no, I don't think this is anywhere near the level of Amos 'n Andy).
Again, I don't think this is a huge deal. But it does seem to me to be a bit tactless. And with that, we're getting dangerously close to the "no politics at Mgoblog" line (if we haven't crossed it already) and should probably just agree to disagree.

its hard to repliciate the real thing- they will see the real thing run and throw wild on them on Saturday night!
GO BLUE!

Thank you MS Paint!

It'd probably be more effective for them to chase a racehorse.

instead of rabbits because everyone knows Denard is faster than rabbits

This is very true. I have a sixth sense about this stuff.

If that's who they're using, boy, will they be in for a surprise on Saturday

Pictures or it didn't happen.

because he is not the only one on the team w/ killer dreads and yes i mean Killer.

Did they also have him untie his laces? It just wouldn't be the same with the laces tied.
