PSU OT Commit Will Fries Contacted by Michigan but not Interested

I think this makes PSU 1 for 18 in the last 18 head to head matchups with UM in any sport or recruiting.

Fair enough, but I'm not shooting for a full bore thread jack, just a minor detour. My hope is somebody not on the app could open a thread rampantly speculating about Fuller again, and then this one could return to us freaking out about our sudden lack of OT depth.

Well, at least this means that we knew there was a possibility of the Hamilton decommit for roughly a week and the staff is scrambling to find an appropriate second option. I just worry that pickings are slim. Nonetheless, in Harbaugh I trust.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't want Swenson back even if it were a possibility. Why waste a scholarship on somebody who isn't willing to put in the work? Maybe he ends up working out, but I'd he skeptical of him succeeding with a coach as intense as harbaugh.

I have a feeling that something about Swenson took the M staff by some surprise to the extent they are now scrambling to fill his spot.  I don't believe this was simply a case of not attending work out camps, that was a known factor before he was sent the written offer.  Nor do I think it necessarily was his senior season (though that can't be entirely discounted) because Drevno did have the in home visit in early December when that would have been discussed.  No, I believe there is an issue with one of the other legs of the Field, Academics, Community triad.

Senior tape was 1/2 as long as junior tape. (My research)

Opponents no longer feared playing against him since intensity was reduced. Played to not get injured instead of striving to be the best recruit in the State of Illinois.

Did not come to summer camp.

That is enough for me alone!

We graduate so many Seniors after 2016. We may need 2/3 of the incoming class to be hits as RS Freshman and even if they are we will still be thin on the two deep. I was expecting a class of 5 this year. We are going to need a large/good OL class next year.

Other than not coming to camp...what makes you say he isn't willing to put in the work?

I got the impression that it wasn't a matter of putting in the work, it was more the fact that he had a chance to prove himself during his senior season and didn't look good enough to play at Michigan (in the eyes of the coaching staff).

Either way, I agree 100% - leave it alone. The past is the past and in this case...leave it there. No thanks. Wish him all the best.

I presume this Fries outreach means there is no double secret commit from Price. I guess that was always dreaming anyway, but double not so good news. Hope that Fuller stuff means something but not holding my breath.
