PSU commit DT Michael Dwumfour to visit this weekend

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

PSU commit and HS teammate of Kareem Walker DT Michael Dwumfour to take an official visit to Michigan this weekend. This is big news because PSU's recruiting class is imploding.

Dwumfour and Rashan Gary are good friends and workout partners as well. That may be kind of important too.

I thought the Little rumors formulated because the secret visitor was supposedly someone at the UA game? I'm probably wrong, but for some reason I thought that was part of the description. Oh well, Dwumfour looks to be quick and strong and his relationship with Gary doesn't hurt either. We'll have a lot of exits on the DL next year, so getting depth now would be beneficial.

They should be. Very similar to the Hoke situation, with the added bonus of the staff leaving like the house is on fire, rather than Hoke's more stable OC shakeup. This is going to be a looooong road back for them. We shot for the moon and got Harbaugh; they have no such genius to turn to. Harbaugh inherited an underachieving roster still equipped with 4-stars and athletes; PSU has a team recovering from massive sanctions. When they fire Franklin they need to strike gold in a big way. Tom Herman or someone like that. Or they're in deep, long-term trouble.

I don't think they could get Herman, but Rhule looks like a very solid choice. That's what they need, somone who knows how to coach, knows the area, and will stay because it's the job he really wants. The flash of Franklin has been a bad fit. The next guy will have it easier since the effect of sanctions will be minimal.

So, not to be super suspicious, but is this like when Nkemdiche was super interested and committed to Clemson when Clemson offered like half his teammates scholarships...and then went to Ole Miss. Isn't an under the radar WR from Paramus visiting as well?

i dont understand the continued pursuit of stewart (with some hinting hes likely to soon commit) unless its a situation where the coaches clearly state he can join the class if another WR exits.

im a huge proponent of adding versatile athletes capable of potentially impacting multiple positions so i love the staff adding multiple WRs with versatility and ability to compete at DB, RB, etc - but i dont see stewart as that type player.  hes strictly an outside WR, similar to types hoke brought in.  and they already have several WR commits projected to the outside (not to mention those guys offer more positional versatilty in addition to likely being more talented outside receivers).

the staff obviously has a plan and they no doubt know what theyre doing, its just an odd recruitment.  id be surprised if they added stewart without losing someone from that group of projected WR types

Just had the mental image of these PSU coaches out on the road, showing up for in-homes, and finding out that their commits are all visiting other schools. halol.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't for the life of me figure out the allure of Penn State. Obviously it's a big school and their facilities are probably great, but I wouldnt choose PSU over similar comparables - MSU, etc.

I dont know, they just dont excite me - the town is kind of weak, in the middle of nowhere, and the whole Sandusky thing is creepy.

If you're from Pennsylvania, PSU is a big deal. Everybody knows somebody who went there, and people love the town. Plus, it's the only decent football school near the Mid Atlantic / Tri State area. If you grow up on the east coast and watch college football at all, you watch PSU.
