PSA: SI Article on JH is Rosenberg

Submitted by rederik on
There's an article going around on SI titled, "Return to Ann Arbor: Jim Harbaugh explains his move back to Michigan." I, unwitting fool that I am, clicked it without realizing it was a Michael Rosenberg article. Feeling dirty for providing him the click, I gave the stupid article a read (since the damage had already been done), and I can confirm it offers very little insight not already revealed in the press conference. So just as a PSA to those who refuse to forget or forgive, be sure to avoid it.

And go blue!!!

I considered this when posting, but it came up on my facebook previously and, if I'd have known its author, I would have avoided it. Thus, I thought I'd share my error with others so they can avoid it if they prefer; and I tried to minimize the damage of discussing it here by not linking to it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rosenberg's press pass pulled the same way Brandon did Bacon's. I have to wonder what the relationship was involving MR, Brandon and Hoke that led to MR getting an exclusive interview with Hoke last August. No more exclusives for trolls!

For what it's worth, I don't think there's any love lost between Rosenberg and Brandon. Brandon attacked Rosenberg in all but name in his presser about the NCAA thing and Rosenberg, in this very article, says that Harbaugh "coveted" the job in 2011 but Brandon botched the search.

I've never had the courage to do it, but every so often I think of sending Rosenberg a card with the definition of "countable hour" written in it. Unsigned, of course, and with no closing lest my intentions of being a troll be misconstrued as actual consideration for anything. Maybe I should shoot for one card per quarter, eh?

RSVP, because we've never had an opportunity to ascertain whether he to this day has a clue about it. To be fair to MR (/ducks), there seem to be other writers, like this one guy writing for WSJ, I think it was, who similarly seem to have no idea how much college football players actually work. (I think it was in an article "Three reasons JH should stay in the NFL" or something similar, and the guy quoted the 20 countable hours out of somewhere. Only a veteran of the Freep Wars would probably by now know or care, I suppose.)

Where Rosenberg is concerned, SI = freep in my book.

There's so much goodness on the interwebs today that I don't think we need to click his link.  Rosenberg can go eat a big bowl of dicks for all I care!!!

Folks should probably figure out how to come to terms with Rosenberg being the main voice at SI writing about Michigan. He's always had a line to Lloyd and it's clear from this article and the past that he has some kind of connection to Harbaugh and his dad. (I'm assuming he has relationships with a lot of the Bo-era coaches from writing his book). While not much is new in the article, it's clear that some of it results from a one on one talk.

The upshot being that he's most likely going to be SI's main guy for access inside Harbaugh-era Schembechler Hall. It sucks that his shitty reporting for the Freep landed him such a national platform, but it is what it is.

After all, Bacon had an ultra-inside relationship with Bo and still had his pass pulled by Brandon. Although Bo was no longer there. I'm still hoping for recognition along the lines of "Dickhead Emeritus", or at least a cordon of "Donkey-Puncher" pickets around Schembechler every time MR comes rolling in in his SI stagecoach.

Thanks for posting the link to the Amazon reviews of Rosenberg's book.  Very entertaining reading.  Much better, I'm sure, than anything he's ever written.

I especially liked this bon mot from a reviewer named Louis Powell:  I recommended it highly for those who are heavily medicated but still require more sedation for sleep.
