PSA For All Wolverines In Indy

Submitted by Wolverinefan84 on
I am in Indy. Drinking has commenced. Was wondering if any fellow Wolverines know the alcohol policy at Bankers Life Fieldhouse/NCAA tournament. Do they sell beer in the stadium? Can flasks be brought in easily? Need to plan out the morning. If you have information, all Wolverines in Indy will appreciate it. Derrick Walton is my spirit animal. Go Blue.

No they don't sell beer at ncaa games, unless there's a bar connected to stadium, which you can't leave said bar with. Yes, you can sneak in a flask but don't be stupid about it. Just like any other arena you've ever been to.

You are much more likely to be found out if the pint is in the front of your pants then the small of your back, which has a natural inward curve (depending whether your physique is more akin to Brady Hoke or Jim Harbaugh).

I've brought traveler fifths in the small of my back (i'm skinnier than Jimbo) into many stadiums with no problem at all.

That game in Dallas is not an "official NCAA event." NCAA games (I.e., tournaments and other championship events sponsored by the NCAA) do not allow alcohol sales, with the very recent exception of the CWS and WCWS.

Unfortunately, there's no alcohol available inside Bankers Life for Big Ten/NCAA games (unless you buy a special hospitality package - which seems extremely hypocritical and only allows limited access anyway). O'Reilly's is definitely the place and, I hate to jinx things, but it has been very easy to get into the arena with airplane bottles.

The city of Indianapolis allows open intox so you can tailgate and drink your whole walk there. When we played in Indy a couple years ago me and some friends each snuck in a pint. Good way to make friends with people aground you.

Indiana only had alcohol sales at restaurants and bars on Sundays. Buy everything you need for Sunday's pre game and post game celebration on Saturday.

I was about to post about Sundays.  Also, even bars stop serving at midnight on Sundays, instead of 2:00am... at least they did about 5 years ago.  Not sure if you're the type of guy to push the Sunday night drinking limits, but it caught me and some friends off guard and was a serious bummer.
