The women's basketball team is also in action tonight, hosting Indiana at 7:00 in a game they can't afford to lose if they want to keep their NCAA tourney hopes alive. Veronica Hicks is the lone senior on this year's squad, and this is her last chance to go dancing. Kudos to her for surpassing the 1,000-point mark in her career during the loss to MSU on Sunday. This season, she's leading the team in scoring, assists, and rebounds.
Jeff Arnold has a nice profile of Hicks at annarbor.com titled Michigan senior guard Veronica Hicks maintains balance, finds fulfillment on and off the court.
Given his demeanor on the sidelines and in press conferences, this quote from Kevin Borseth stood out:
"I think there's a fine line between being committed and being insane," Michigan women's basketball coach Kevin Borseth said on Tuesday. "I think she's committed. She's got balance in her life that some players that are so driven that they make 1,000 shots a day then they go home and watch video don't have."
Then there's this impressive bit:
Hicks has been an Academic All-Big Ten performer the past two years while majoring in industrial and operations engineering.
Senior night, by the way, will be next Thursday, the 24th, when Michigan hosts Minnesota at 7:00.
