Here's pretty clear evidence that Glenn Robinson III did not intentionally punch Hulls, he was ripping his arm away form Watford. GRIII could not even see Hulls when he hit him.
Either way it was a pretty solid punch.
So between this and the Oladipo dunk (and the possibility of the B1G championship being at stake) that rematch at Crisler looks pretty juicy. Which is good, because normally the last game of the regular season is actually pretty irrelevant.
Sad that the biggest game in Michigan basketball in decades is over m'f'ing spring break.
But it's good to see that he "hit" something Saturday night!
Hulls is gonna use that gif to prove he was once on the same court as GRIII.
is a non-story.
GRIII is so lucky to have possibly touched those sideburns.
Water finds its level.
to use his left hand more.
GRIII was playing on Saturday?
I wasn't even aware this happened until I heard Dan Dakich claiming he "has to be suspended" on his radio show today. There were several IU fans emailing his show that Robinson had no idea Hulls was there. Dakich's response was "all good players know where everyone on the court is at all times, so either he punched him or he isn't a good player." Interesting logic...
The homerism is strong with that one.
If someone is going to be any kind of decent journalist, they have to show they can be impartial regardless of where their private-life loyalty lies. They also need to check out facts rather than always making assumptions from short video clips. He isn't going to get his chance in the big chair saying things like that.
He was also calling for Dawson's suspension for punching a Purdue player, Travis Carroll. I just think his radio show is all about controversy and ratings. He always rips on IU and Crean on the radio.
Dan Dakich is a tool. Having to listen to him do college games on ESPN is like having ear herpes IMO.
Hulls should get in trouble for running his face into GRIII's hand, I mean no wonder he didn't score. His hand had to be so sore the rest of the game.
with the rest of the trolls.
Per Bruce Lee himself, do not clintch your fist until the point of impact. WORD.
The bowl cut makes it look worse that it really was.
I certainly don't think it was intentional at all, but his fist still hit Hulls in the face. If they called the Manny Harris elbow on Kramer an intentional foul then this probably should have been a flagrant 1 and nothing else.
Incidental contact is not a foul. In no way is it a foul actually. The refs made the right decision and they even reviewed it.
above the shoulders ahould be an automatic flagrant 1. Not sure what the refs were looking at. Commentators seemed to think it was 2 or 3 call as well as looking at McGary's screen, and not the "punch." But they are usually just speculating on air.
If GRIIIs hand got above his shoulders, I could see an argument for a flagrant on similar contact but not when the little guy is just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I'm pretty sure that the refs stopped the game and looked at this. Nothing came of it, so theres that...
You would be correct in thinking so. The refs did in fact review this and deemed it an accident. If the refs at Assembly Hall think it's an accident, then that should prove it pretty strongly. They usually give IU the benefit of the doubt on every call. Not to say I thought the refs were bad in this game, I actually thought they were pretty darn good. But if they think so, then that is pretty obvious to me.
Meh.....should have rotated his hips and turned into the punch, Hulls would have not gotten up for a long time.
I wasn't thinking he should have hit him harder, but I was thinking if he had, Hulls would have been done for. I've seen him multiple times in person and Hulls is one tiny dude.
McGary seems to be having the time of his life playing tag with Zeller.
GLENN ROBINSON III PUNCHES KIDS! Lets get this meme going!
I believe the correct meme is "GLENN ROBINSON III PUNCHES HOBBITS!"
The only question here is who has the most punchable face in the league: Jordan Hulls, Aaron Craft, or Mike Bruesewitz?
Neither, Zeller. I swear he and Hulls remind me of Laettner and Bobby Hurley, the hatered I shared for them is now back and directed toward Zeller and Hulls.
Shame on me for forgetting Zeller. That asshat's face is more punchable than Rachel Ray's.
Ok. I'll ask. Rachel Ray??
that voice...it's agony inducing.
Not only the voice, but the annoying fake smile, wide cheeks, stupid sayings, and over-the-top enthusiam.
He has already taken a few for the team.
Craft and those douchy red cheeks
Now that's how you throw a punch. Dawson can learn a thing or two from this clip.
Home Depot's face should have been there.
At least he hit something.
Thad Matta catches one in his pie-hole tomorrow.
is mesmerizing in that gif. That looks like it hurt.
GR3 looks to have a future in the UFC If the NBA doesn't work out!
That was as fair a game as I have seen called in Bloomington. (which admittedly is saying very little) But when you are clutching grabbing and holding as much as Indiana is allowed to do on their home court...
Dude getting clocked while GR3 is pulling his arm free is what I call poetic justice.
