Pride somethingsomething Fall

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

Michigan State had Michigan come onto their court and expected to win because they're MSU. They were outhustled and outplayed by a team who wanted it more, a team composed of players MSU fans claim wouldn't start anywhere else in the Big Ten. Their players played slow, clumsy ball but expected to win because they're MSU and this is UM. They had fans coming in with a number in their head and, for some, a number on their torso:

And they left looking like idiots.

Thank you Yesvak

Thank you Douglass

Thank you team play

lucas and green were doing a lot of jawing as well, and at some point you have to do that.  Say what you want about Novak and Douglass, but the real leader of this team is Morris.  At some point your leader has to say, "enough is enough".

And to clarify, it's not "FIRE BEILEIN RABBLE RABBLE (that meme is a bit tiring) it's simply concern over the offense.

There's no doubt in my mind Beilein can coach and teach. This is going to be a good team. There's still too much dribbling into trouble spots and spotty shooting. They play hard and don't give up. That's good coaching.

I suppose Michigan shooting well over their season average from 3 land is good coaching, too? I'm excited they won and I hope they can put together a few more wins in the B1G TEN.

Beilein is a good coach, still need to upgrade the recruiting for long term success.  This team would be leaps and bounds better with a decent low post player, not asking for Jajuan Johnson, just a 10 and 7 guy.

Jordan Morgan is one of the top 10 freshman big men in the country.  You need to stop complaining about the talent on this team and realize we have some good young players.

He is going to be a decent roll player, not a star.  He is better suited to play the 4, with a Jajuan Johnson type at the 5.  Payne, Leonard and Sullinger are all big ten players with more upside.  Morgan is benefiting from getting more extended minutes than those guys with the exception of Sullinger.  Don't get me wrong I am encouraged by Morgan, but he is not the be all end all post player.

A2Mike, good to have your trolling ass back. Still can't get over this "we aren't talented" misinformed crap, can you? You know the funny thing about your ridiculously stupid post.....Jordan Morgan's numbers this year are quite a bit better than Jajuan Johnson's numbers as a freshman. So would you like to retract your statement or just continue to look stupid?

Also, Morgan is averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds for the year....are you saying we would be leaps and bounds better if he got 2 points and 2 boards more per game? Do you ever get tired of saying something stupid and then having someone show you with statistics why your post was dumb?

you are too funny.  Johnson played 17 minutes a game on a team that regularly played 4 guys over 6-8 with Johnson getting the least of the minutes allocation.  Morgan averages 24 minutes a game on a team that regularly plays 3 guys over 6-8.  It's a little different.

that regularly played 4 guys over 6-8 with Johnoson getting the least of the minutes allocation."  You're basically saying that Johnson had a lot more height surrounding him during his freshman year than Morgan currently has around him.  Any height on Michigan's team from players other than Morgan comes from those who have same/less experience than him.  Thus it's much easier to defend Morgan and limit his production from the frontcourt than it was to defend Johnson and limit his individual production during his freshman year.

So yes, I agree that for Morgan--to his disadvantage relative to Johnson's freshman year--"it's a little different."  Your facts actually support the job that Morgan, coached by Beilein and his staff, is doing.

When you put little/no substance behind your criticism of Michigan bball, its coach or its players, you do come off as a troll.  Tighten up your game, dude.

.  from 3 land is good coaching, too?"  Yes--the shooting is good coaching if Coach B has them working on their shooting.  In fact, Coach B was just discussing subtle changes made to No(Yes)vak's release on his shots.  So, w/o knowing the ins/outs of the team behind closed doors, I suspect the shooting--just like all other areas of progression and regression--is a product in part of good or bad coaching.

Last I checked, THIS SEASON isn't over and the "season average" you mention hasn't been totally determined.  The shooting % against sparty is another data point that increases the average for the season.  I think we have to wait for approximately 10 more data points out of 30 (approximate number of games in a season).

In short, your criticism lacks analysis and hence has very little merit.  Criticizing Michigan w/o any real thought behind it only makes you look like that fan who expects perfection and complains in every other instance.  You probably aren't that guy, but the Michigan fan base definitely has these people.  These people exist, unfortunately I can testify to this.

What is great is how young this team is.  We basically have a bunch of freshman playing at all 4 and 5.  A couple good recruiting classes, and we are back full force.

This picture gets me heated more than anything. Imagine the poor owner of that car. God help me if a state fan was doing that to my car and a gun was in range. He wouldn't walk well for the rest of his life, or I'd go Goodfellas' Henry on his ass and leave him with a bloody dome.
