Pretty clear where Brandon stands

as far away from Brady Hoke as possible. Way to stand behind your guy in a time of intense national scrutiny.

@JoshuaHenschke tweeted Brandon wasn't at today's press conference.  Amazing.

Dr. Schlissel is hoping Brandon doesn't fire him.

yeah, what a fricken weasel. He is like that one guy to jump on the boats with the women and children while the titanic was sinking.

since the Coke scandal - or maybe the first Gregg Henson post - broke. The parade of Stephen Ross, various former players, and people in the press backing Hoke last week, and even the announcers backing Hoke at the end of the game were orchestrated by someone. Then there are the statements about the Shane scandal which are a bizarre mix of DB obfuscation tactics and Brady Hoke ramblings.

So it would appear he is still pulling the strings, and shoring up his political base (big donors and regents), while avoiding attachment to the current staff twisting in the breeze.

We'll know he has landed like a cat if he re-emerges spouting something about reviewing the football program at the end of the season.

Because he was busy packing up his belonging because he is not going to be the AD for much longer.

I wish I was the one giving him the news he was fired. I'd hand him a coke and say, "Here, have a coke and a smile!"

If it happens that somehow Hoke falls without Brandon falling I couldn't think of something to make me more angry.  I'd rather have Hoke and no brandon next year than brandon and no Hoke.

Actually, "to let him squirm" is why Brandon hired Hoke in the first place.

It is a common misconception among Michigan fans that when it is said, "Brandon hired Hoke because they're friends," this means Brandon and Hoke are "friends" in the traditional sense of the word.  This is not the case.

Instead, "Brandon hired Hoke because they're friends," is simply shorthand for Brandon failed to conduct a real search; Brandon picked a toady; Brandon needed a yes-man; Brandon was interested in hiring a sycophant.

Once this is appreciated, the situation is clear:  Brandon is letting Hoke "squirm" for the same reason he originally hired him:  To provide a loyal, albeit dim-witted, target when things go poorly for the Athletic Department.  Brandon needed someone who would never resign, no matter how bad it got.  A true believer.  Brandon got his man in Brady Hoke.

Please don't misunderstand:  Hoke will still remain when Brandon is fired.  Brandon will never fire Hoke.  That's why Brandon picked him.

It will be up to the next AD to select Hoke's replacement.

I suspect that we have a Bobby Williams situation on our hands here, and I also suspect that tells us an awful lot about how and when Mr. Hoke will be dismissed. Stay with me for a moment, if you will:

Mark this date: October 27. The Monday after the Michigan State game, after MSU drubs us by about 6-7 touchdowns. Hoke mumbles and bumbles his way through the press conference on Saturday, and says something about how he doesn't think he's lost this team. He might not have lost this team, but at that point, he has lost his job.

Hell, the score might even be 49-3 this time, too.
