I'm guessing filling out his bracket isn't the most important thing he's doing on a given day- but i think his bracket looks pretty good. Sometimes brackets just go to hell even when the picks are good to begin with...such is the madness of March.
President Obama's Bracket (no politics)
I'll bet he gives it more attention than the coaches voting in the CFB football polls do for their picks.
usually, the more you know about college basketball, the worse you do in picking your brackets.....
at least that's what i've found
That's why you pick the team with the cutest mascot like my sister.
My wife picks by which place she'd rather visit...
I'm assuming she doesn't have Wichita State taking it all?
bracket challenge in 8th grade. Most the girls did well and won using this method of choosimg. The championship game was between Florida and UCLA...
Which one is she?
Sparty. Her idea of cute is a little off.
My sister has, over the years has used the following criteria to choose her bracket: who would win a fight between the mascots, where she was applying for jobs, which one sounds more like a basketball school, Big Ten schools, schools in Michigan, any team over Ohio State, etc. She pretty much always picks Gonzaga to win, even though I am not 100% sure she even knows where the school is located and I believe she chooses them based on their name.
Amazingly, I don't think she's ever won any of her March Madness groups, although I'm pretty sure she usually beats me with my limited knowledge of basketball combined with gut feelings.
Pretty lame to copy my bracket like that, PotUS
Pretty much every bracket pool I've been a part of that has had at least one girl that doesn't know shit about sports has been won by a girl that doesn't know shit about sports.
I wouldn't use somebody's bracket success as a measure of their college basketball accumen.
And especially not their college basketball acumen.
Last year he went all Chalk if I recall correctly, so it's not surprising he got beat. Hopefully we mess up his bracket
Funny, I knew on this account as soon as I put an opinion somebody else would try to make it disappear. I didn't get political I just basically asked why Obama is an expert. He's no more of an expert than anybody else who plays pick up ball and watches sports. Apparently actual thought and opinions are only allowed occasionally.
No one said he's an expert, he just likes basketball and follows it- so therefore he "knows" it. This is a fact, not a conspiracy.
The president has clearly made his picks with the election in mind. Ohio St.......... battleground state....... you see where I am going with this.
electoral votes than Texas (Baylor)! /s
of the most political persons on this board. I did not vote for obama and will not this year. However, I think it is cool that the POTUS regardless of party or politics can discuss NCAA like the rest of us.
So many times politicians of all partys are not in touch with us "regular" folks. They do not understand our daily life. So when POTUS puts his picks on national TV for all to view, it takes guts.
I get to laugh at him when ohio loses like Kansas did last year. I get to say that my bracket was in the to 10%-ile according to ESPN. Obama's was about 50%-ile IIRC. So that makes me smarter than him, right????
Nobody cares who you voted for. You could've left that part out and your comment wouldn't miss its point.
I retract who I voted or didnt vote for since I cannot edit my comment.
My point was the POTUS regardless of party affiliation or politics, can be like the rest of us.
Oh, it says in this "tread". Carry on.
Don't make me dislike our softball team...
No one said he was an expert, but he qualifies as a celebrity. Yesterday we had a thread about the brackets of Lamarr Woodley and Common. So... yeah.
Woodley is at least a proffesional athlete. As well as having a large connection to Michigan. Obama is neither. We might as well put Kid Rock's bracket up if we are doing every celebrity.
If the argument is about whether the person has credentials to make a pick, then Woodley has none as he's a football player, not basketball. And who cares if he went to Michigan or not? That doesn't give him more credentials to make a pick. If the argument is that Michigan is in the tourney so Woodley's picks are relevant, then the same argument works with Harvard and Obama. Besides, Obama's picks are going to be all over ESPN, so it's worth discussing as much as any of the picks from the other blowhards on that station that don't know what they are talking about. You can't say the same thing for very many celebrities, including Kid Rock.
I can't wait for Woodley's 2014 Olympic Ice Dancing medal picks. He's an athlete, so he knows what he is talking about.
You could have posted the same comment about Woodley yesterday, but you didn't...
You didn't just ask why he was an expert. You said people just think he's an expert because he's black.
Which is dumb.
He's the President and he likes basketball. Him putting up a bracket and talking about it is all part of the fun. Do you think most of the talking heads putting up brackets on TV and the internets are really experts on basketball? They don't know any more than most people here, or the President for that matter, or the President's dog.
I am an expert, simply ask me for confirmation if needed.
He is the President of the United States of America. Arguably, the most powerful man in the world. What the Most Powerful Man in the world thinks about March Madness is interesting because this is what we do during March Madness because there is not football to pay attention to.
So don't be a jerk.
Didn't his brother in law coach or still does a college team?
Still coaches Oregon State, if memory serves. Unless the Pac-12 disbanded after the season they just had.
It's tough when being a power conference head coach qualifies you as a failure in the family.
- "We beat Washington!!!"
- "Your brother-in-law has nuclear launch codes"
Is there a link in the OP that is hidden in a word somewhere?
Given the topic, I'm gonna be a little quick to delete comments that could potentially move the conversation in a bad direction. My apologies if your well-intended comments are deleted. Such is the nature of things.
Former GOP head Michael Steele has Michigan in his Final Four.
Will it happen with certainty? Definitely not.
Can it happen? Sure.
Now THAT seems like political pandering. I.e., "There are more Michigan fans in the state than any other demographic. If I pick Michigan, it will make all the Michigan homers happy, so they'll be happy with me."
Nonetheless, I'd love to see Michigan in the Final Four. There would be a clear case of playing with house money and winning.
Muttley has Michigan winning it all
It's nice to see he's branching out a bit. Obama usually just picks all the number 1 seeds to go to the final four.
He has UNC over UK in the title game. Said hes a sucker for the Tar Heels. This is per twitter.
Think I'd rather watch Kate Upton fill out her bracket.
to see that as well.
If you know what I mean.
When I evaluate my brackets I use Obama's as my personal line of quality. Last year I had two that beat him and one that lost to him on ESPN. This year I hope to get the trifecta.
powered by a correct UConn Natl Champ pick.
Is Fla St this year's UConn?
While last year was impressive, we need to see how he does this year as well as the next four to evaluate if he is actually with it or if he just happened to get lucky last year. I never heard about his bracket the other years in office so maybe they stunk...? I'm sure last year was not the first time he filled out his bracket.
Tried to find Bob Knight's bracket, was not able to do. so any suggestions?
