Predictions for Mich/NW bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

Michigan returns home tonight against Northwestern 630 BTN.  This is the 2nd time for Northwestern and will have Reggie Hearn this time.  Very likely Jordan Morgan will miss this game tonight.  So who starts Mitch or Jon?  I say Mitch but they may start Jon to bring Mitch in off the bench for the spark.   I hope we push the tempo in this game and get out with a win so its on to Indiana.   Be close early on but will pull way get a home win tonight.

Michigan 72

Northwestern 57

I would like to see Morgan sit this one out so he is healthier for Saturday night (if he plays).

Good guys by 14 due to us looking ahead a bit.

Finally this thread was posted the day of the actual game and not three months prior like they have been lately. See how easy it is?

I like M to win by 17.

Prediction 1: because this game is at a stupid time I will still be at work an not watch it

Prediction 2: m by 13 with more pt for stars than I would like before this weekends game (it's hard to pick when someone mopped the floor with Illinois and lost to Nebraska)

who is faked out of his jock.

Mitch McGary will dive for a loose ball.

No one will have a worse hair cut and acne than John Shurna.

The game will be over by 9:00.

Northwestern can't be overlooked, but against the #1 team in basketball, at Crisler? If we put together at least a decent game, we can still beat them by 10-15. Just don't get caught looking ahead to Saturday.

We come out to a very slow start, we're unfocused and thinking about our No. 1 ranking and Indiana this weekend.  Wildcats see an opportunity to strike, and I think they keep it close in the first half.  Michigan hits the locker room with a lead of 6 before breaking the game open midway through the 2nd.

First, some quick comparison stats to help everyone:

Offensive Stat Comparison
  Northwestern Michigan
Points/Game 64.2 77.4
Avg Score Margin 2.8 18.3
Assists/Game 15.1 15.4
Effective FG % 49.00% 57.70%
Turnover % 15.10% 13.20%
Defensive Stat Comparison
  Northwestern Michigan
Opp Points/Game 61.5 59.1
Opp Effective FG % 46.60% 46.40%
Def Rebounds/Gm 21.5 24.8
Blocks/Game 3.4 2.8
Steals/Game 6 5.7

This wouould be the sort of game Michigan should be able to win by a very comfortable margin. Conservatively, I would suspect something in the 80-60 range given the numbers above and Michigan's overall performance of late. Massey is going with a 96% win likelihood for Michigan actually.

by actually shooting hot from 3 briefly and annoying all of us, before remembering that they are Northwestern at halftime at which time they will proceed to be outscored by 20+ in the 2nd half
