Michigan should hold on playing McGary depending on the flow of this game. If we come out with a comfortable lead he shouldnt play. I think Iowa St keeps it close in the first half but we pull away 5 min left in the game.

Michigan- 79

Iowa St.- 65

GO BLUE!!!

Assists/Game 16.0   19.5
Total Rebounds/Gm 41.0   45.5
Effective FG % 53.5%   63.8%
Off Rebound % 33.3%   32.8%
FTA/FGA 0.447   0.345
Turnover % 10.4%   13.8%

Steals/Game 8.0   3.0

It seems like Michigan gets the slight edge overall when you look at these. I would be tempted to go with 74-70-ish Michigan.

I have more confidence in this team than last season's. A lot of that however depends on who will take over Burke's (and to a degree Hardaway's) floor leadership. Who will step up and settle the team down, get them organized defensively and be the emotional center. I am anxious to see Caris under some brighter lights to see if he can continue his early success. If the answer is yes and Mitch stays healthy I think this could be a great year.

Vegas knows it all.  Michigan is rated 7th in the polls. Iowa St is unranked and yet Iowa St is favored?  As evidenced in the Uconn and Penn State in football, the guys in Vegas know more than we do.

Only because it's an away game and this team is young in the leadership department. If Blue can jump out to a quick lead, I should be wrong. But I think there will be too many offensive lapses and we will struggle down the stretch. I hope I'm wrong but I'll say ISU 63 UM 55

If McGary was back, I'd feel very confident in saying we'd get out of there with a W. But its going to be really tough, and I think it could go either way. We definitely have more talent to work with, but winning on the road.....damn tough to do sometimes.

81-78 good guys. We certainly have the potential to run away with this one, but ISU will be fired up coming into this game. Luckily, no one game is make or break for a basketball season. Even if we lose today, we still have a ton of opportunities to prove our worth.

Home court is nice, but isn't everything.  Iowa State is the type of team we tend to do better against.  They aren't going to overwhelm us with size and athleticism.  They're going to shoot a lot, giving us opportunities to transition.  I think it'll take some hot shooting on their part to win.  Anything less, and we take advantage because they're not going to pile up second chance points.

I don't mean to suggest we're going to cruise, by any means.  I just don't see much of an argument for ISU as the favorite.  It may well be close much of the way, but I think we're the better team in the end.

Oh, and this is all assuming McGary doesn't play.  If he plays and does so at a similar level to where he left off, we'll run Iowa State out of their own arena.  He's a mismatch for a team like this.  But who knows what's going to happen there.
