Predictions for Mich/Central Mich bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

After the long layoff being around the holidays.  Michigan basketball will take on the last state school in Michigan with Central Michigan saturday night at Crisler 7pm BTN.  I look for Michigan to continue its dominance and get a win and finish the non-conference slate undefeated for first time in a while.  Look for the frosh, Burke, and Hardaway to have solid games.  I can't wait for the Big Ten to start next week.

Michigan should run away with this one, as Central is along the lines of IUPUI and EMU in the 250-280 range on KenPom. I'm predicting 89-55, and a lot of PG minutes for Spike and Caris.

I have a feeling the first half will be close as Michigan is getting back into game form.  Then they wake up to calm everyone's nerves leading by no fewer than 12 or more than 19 most of the second half

To steal from another MGoBlogger earlier this season, "I don't know anything about Central Michigan. What I do know...is they're in trouble."

It seems like you couldn't get much more stark in contrast when the team that is sixth in overal field goal percentage goes up against the team that happens to be 285th in the same statistic. The same might be said, to a slightly lesser extent, to a matchup between the team which is 19th overall in average points per game playing the team that is 189th in the same statistic. That would be tomorrow's game in a nutshell. Even in their victories, CMU has not been terribly productive save for a couple games (they've only scored more than 80 twice, and more than 70 only twice, if I am looking at the schedule correctly).

By the numbers, Michigan wins comfortably. I would go with a 86-58-ish performance.

Neptune is moving into Pieces, which means so we should be seeing complete calm by our team as it takes care of business. However, Nepture is a master of illusion, so there may be some ball control issues for Michigan early on. And, of course, Jupiter has been in Taurus since 2011, I expect to see the continued effectiveness of Michigan on the boards.

Michigan will come off a little sluggish in the first 10 minutes because of the long holiday break and not having to play for 9 days, but should dominate the rest of the game.

Saturday should be a great day. A slew of bowl games, M basketball, and then watching Sparty lose (hopefully).*

*Sorry, I'm not "root for the conference" guy. I hate MSU and after all the talk that they were going to win the conference, possibly go undefeated, and crush Michigan, I want them to be 6-7, which is so Sparty.

Ditto. While I am typically a "root for the conference when they don't play Michigan" kind of guy, that will never apply to OSU or MSU. After all the shit-talking MSU has done over the past year or so, I want to see TCU absolutely crush them. Help remind Sparty of its place, and that a damn MAC team made a BCS bowl before they ever did.

CMU gave up 89 points to a Nebraska team that averages 61.

UM might go triple digits in this one.  Expect to see the end of the bench (Person, Akunne, Vogrich, McLimans, Beilfeldt) to see some strong minutes.

UM wins by 35.

Burke only plays 8 minutes in the second half.

I predict that I will be there, sitting in some combination of clothing of the school I go to and love and the school I grew up loving. So if you see a confused looking guy wearing both Maroon and Blue tomorrow stop and tell me Fire Up Chips.... errr I mean Go Blue.... wait Fire Up Blue?

As for the actually game, Central is better than I and pretty much everyone thought they'd be 12 games into the Keno Davis era at 7-5 but they have yet to see anything like Michigan (obviously). Might take Michigan a litttle bit to shake the rust off, CMU will come out running as Davis has installed a fast break offense. There will be some pressing Defense too. Nothing that Arkansas wouldn't have shown. I'll go with
