Predictions for Mich/Binghamton bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

Back at the Crisler tomm night 7pm BTN.  Mich should roll in this game and hopefully rest most of the starters some in this game to be ready for West Virginia Sat night,  I think this is a game will see more Levert and Spike and see what they bring to the table.   Michigan will win and be 10-0.

Michigan 84

Binghamton 50

Sheesh, looking at Binghamton's resume thus far, they are bad.  Really bad.  Big losses against other "bad" teams.  If Michigan plays with any spirit - which of course is no given with a cupcake opponent that doesn't exactly get the juices flowing - it's a 100 point performance and a 50+ point win.

In that case:  Michigan 101, Binghamton 44

I'm looking for Morgan to continue his aggressive play with a second straight double double with THJ taking his turn to lead the team in scoring. His ability to stay effective when having an off night shooting is huge for this team but after a couple 3-10 performances, I think he gets it going in this game. 86-57 Michigan.

fall to the Fighting ??????? by a count of 68-63.  Courtney Sims and Graham Brown will put forth a admirable effort down low, but it simply won't be enough.

What's more plausible is a GRIII front flip from the free throw line for a dunk...we all know spike would be the passer a la The Palace Flight Crew. But my prediction would be Michigan - a lot to Binghamton's - a little (97-38 Michigan for the win and 10-0).

Unfortunately the Bearcats have pretty much been consistently horrible (except for that nice run a few years back that was broken up by a drug fueled scandal) ever since we moved up to Div I a decade or so ago.

Mich will have a field day with the team -

Binghamton's season hasn't been pretty so far:

Lost @ Loyala 71-45

Lost to Brown 58-49

Lost @ Navy 75-52

Lost @ Army 85-76

Beat St. Peter's 62-54

Beat Marywood 76-51

Lost @ Penn 65-54

Lost to Mount St. Mary's 71-70

Lost to Monmouth 77-65

Lost @ Bryant 78-56

Something's clearly wrong if this game isn't over in the first half.

Like others have mentioned...yeah...

Binghamton is 298th overall in PPG (60.5), 131st in RPG (36.6), 327th in assists (9.6) and 301st in overall FG percentage (.394).

Compare this to us, and there aren't many reasons that this game is not decided for a while before it is over. Michigan in a 92-50-ish performance, assuming Binghamton can somehow find a few moments to shoot better than 39%. Otherwise, the margin could be greater.

Binghampton note : Jordan Reed, who leads the entire America East Conference in scoring (18.7 ppg.) and rebounding (10.3 rpg.), was listed on CBSSports.com’s weekly “Freshman of the Year” rankings.

Doesn't matter if they had J.R. Reed, Willis Reed or Donna Reed...

Michigan  102

Bearcats   58

I can see why M (or any other quality team) would schedule a couple cupcakes to start the season -- glorified scrimmages. But to schedule a patsy ten games into the season is a little cheap and easy. The team will gain nothing from it, except an inflated record.

This is a classic look ahead game.  We have to assume that Saturday's game against West Virginia has been on the coaches mind for some time.  I am going to guess that this entire week of practice will be geared towards getting things ready for Saturday.  Which means tomorrow's game will pretty much be, "just go out there and be better than this team."  This could result in a much closer game than we might imagine.  That being said, I still believe it will be between 20-25 points.  These guys are that good.

Has anybody else actually BEEN to Binghampton?  I have back in the 80's when my territory consisted of Ohio, upstate NY state and freaking Binghampton.  There was no easy way to get there and it was a long, long drive to the city.

All I remember from that trip was the manager of our location (worked in insurance replacement car rental back then) there was a total disaster and we had to let him go.  He said "you cant fire me" and told our Regional Manager (I was a District Manager) he wasnt leaving.  The RM looked at the kid and said "maybe not but I sure as hell can stop those paychecks from showing up"   That ended the discussion.

But the university is actually not located in Binhamton but in nearby Vestal, which isn't horrible. Theres a lot of old money lying around from back when IBM was based out of there but its been trending downward ever since. Still a big defence presence though...Lockheed was a huge employer back when I graduated.
