Michigan has been able to win all of its close games; Sparty has managed to lose all of theirs. I think that is the difference. The wet weather will have an effect, but not like at Notre Dame last year. Michigan has also been close to breaking a return and blocking a punt. One happens Saturday. Michigan 35 Michigan State 31

Stonum Kickoff Return TD, Warren Pick Six TD, BG fumble recovery, Denard 2TDs, Minor 150 yards, Brown Long TD Run, We score in the forties, despite rain, they can not keep up. Our D might have holes, but our Defense does better against their Offense, than their Defense does against our offense. M 42-30 (D holds them to 3 fields goals in the red zone ala Indy game)

Damn the weather, when toe meets leather our 22 best against their 22 best. The best TEAM wins. Weather would never be a crutch for Michigan to pin its hopes on. How far have we dipped into the boo hoo if our team loses it was because of this or that. OLD SCHOOL M 21 S 20 off a blocked extra point.

I've been at UM by ten all along; I think 31-21 sounds about right, with UM scoring the last 14 in the fourth quarter, touching off riots and couch-burning in EL. Tear gas margarita, anyone?

How To A Rain Dance 1. Never do a rain dance on a hill. 2. Make sure you have a lot of room so you don't run into anything. 3. Spin around in clockwise circles. 4. Make up your own rain chant. It should be rythmical and easy to say fast. 5. Yell your rain chant while spinning around in circles. 6. If you are trying to get rid of rain, spin in counterclockwise circles and say your chant backwards.

MSU 42 UM 35 in overtime 900 yds of combined offense, big plays and long touchdowns all over the place, and a near-total absence of anything resembling a defense on either team.

so far and Denard makes MSU's D look like they are stuck in concrete. Michigan scores early and often and sends little brother to his room without supper. UM 37 MSU 17

the game will not be close. If Cousins/Nichol have time it could be a long day. MSU can't keep up. We take this game and steam roll into Iowa City next week. I have a good feeling about this.

I'm going Michigan 42, State 28. Warren gets a pick, Minor Rage, and defensive line gets just enough pressure to make some defensive stops.

MSU plays on grass. I don't think Brown or Denard will have big days since the slow, wet grass will work against their speed advantage. Minor gets a workout, lots of short passes. on defense MSU has a big first half, pushing around our D-line a bit and our linebackers struggling as usual. As the game goes on our d-line takes over(I think the strategy behind playing Heininger and co. early on so much is to really dominate the second half) MSU tight ends have a big day. Blair White remembers that he is not an NFL talent against Donovan Warren. BG has at least one blindside hit on the QB. Final score: M-31, MSU 27 thoughts not in complete sentences. I used up all my intelligent writing on my upper level writing class.

Every week different players step up for Michigan in different situations. This will continue. It's the mark of a good team and a well-coached team. A lot of leaders and dependable guys are emerging. Weather or not, grass or not, I see this week as being a "come together" week for UM. It's Game Five, on the road, against an opponent they know well and understand the task at hand and the implications. The staff closed practices--Rivalry Message sent. I think from top to bottom, everyone gets it now. MSU has lost o friggin CMU AT HOME, they were blasted by Wisconsin (for those of you who just saw the final score, it was 38-17 with about 4 minutes to go). Turnovers have hurt them, penalties have hurt them, they can't finish, and they are a prototypical Old Big Ten team. Our team speed will shock them--they won't be able to keep up with it. I do believe they'll be duper jacked to start, and I look for that to backfire in this season-saving attempt. If we weather the storm early (BIG Key on the road)--they'll begin to lose any confidence they have left. There's no satisfaction with this staff. Go back to WMU: up 24-0 with the ball and the half winding down--and we go for a home run to close out the Broncos. This staff won't get up by ten and go into a shell. I'm not a "nuts and bolts" guy--no analysis of O vs D or any of that crap for me. Just Big Picture stuff, and the Big Picture is that this game is very, very important to UM's future for a lot of reasons, and even though we are young--so are they, and they are just not very good. Michigan 37 Michigan State 20
