Pre Saturday football chat
Like most of us I am looking forward to removing the foul taste/smell of last weeks defeat at the hands of the Spartans. While a win is necessary to do this I would like to see some improvement from the team on the offensive side of the ball. Like we all are. Interested in seeing what the game plan is. I think the Cornhuskers are beatable in a number of ways but I'd like to see a game plan that we can carry forward and feel we can duplicate with success in the upcoming games as well. Also, I'm just looking forward to the happiness that arises from watching college football on a Saturday, watching games I have no emotional investment in. Just to get back to the simple joy of watching football without gnashing my teeth.

I really hope so

All I'm looking for is a response. The response to losing to Iowa around this time 2 years ago was stomping Illinois the following week. The response to losing to Nebraska around this time last year was stomping Minnesota.
Kick their ass, please.

This is a huge game for Hoke. A win and it's indication that maybe he's doing something right. A loss and its officially doom.

I just want a win. Yes I want a nice win, but I've kind of let that fall by the way side this year. I mean improvement is going to be tough to record this week because if DG isn't being sacked 12 times then that'll be an improvement. So a win is fine today and I just want to get last week out of my mind. However, we are going to need to have a good start today because I know the fans at the stadium are going to be a little restless from last week I'm sure

Other two-loss teams throughout the country
- LSU
- Texas
- Oklahoma
- Texas Tech
- Duke
- Louisiana-Lafayette
We don't have that much to be ashamed about, contrary to the stench this blog has been generating over the past month.
I think we will be fine today, because we will not be playing the #1 defense on the road.
I still love our quarterback, our seniors, our defense, and our staff. The turnaround starts today. GO BLUE!

I'm hoping Purdue finds a way to win. Man, what they had to go through last week at the hands of Ohio State; the Buckeyes should issue some sort of apology, that wasn't a show of good sportsmanship!
Penn State at Minnesota should be a good game as well. Minnesota at 7-2, are they for real? I remember the losses to Iowa and ourselves and they weren't a good team then. They have rallied well especially with Coach Kill having his issues with seizures. Penn State needs to win this game if they to consider themselves a good team trying to position for a good bowl game.

It's gonna be real tough for PSU to get to a good bowl game, considering the sanctions
November 9th, 2013 at 12:08 PM ^
Oh yeah the sanctions! With schollys coming back I got a little carried away, whoops...

Agreed (about Meyer running up the score). tOSU fans also find themselves in the unusual position of having to root for both Michigan and MSU to win out in order to boost their own resume (assuming they win both those games, of course)...
November 9th, 2013 at 12:54 PM ^
Dream scenario, M wins out and OSU kills MSU in B1G CG.
If we lose to OSU (which seems likely) I hope MSU drops one along the way and OSU wins the B1G CG, but doesn't go to the NC even though they are unbeaten.

At least Nebraska has an excuse, with its team having so many key injuries.
I love our guys, they're trying hard. But Neb has a running game. We don't. Nebraska breaks Brady's home win streak.

November 9th, 2013 at 12:16 PM ^
for Nebraska; the only way they score 35 points on us, imho, is if our offense gets shut down and I don't see the Cornhusker defense doing that. If the Cornhuskers win this game I think it will be close but I think we have more weapons than they do.
Michigan 34 Nebraska 20

Ok I'll be that guy. Shouldn't a "pre-Saturday" post have appeared before today?
November 9th, 2013 at 12:21 PM ^
I was waiting for someone to fall into the trap!!!
You see 'Saturday' is used as a...descriptor...for the true object of the 'Pre' - not to be confused with 'Fontaine' - which is 'football'...
Actually I have a cold and I clearly suck at mentalness at this time. Stay tuned for further gaffs laterat gametime when I introduce wine to the off brand DayQuil...

Oh? It's an awareness campaign and 10% of school proceeds go to a charity while the athletic dept builds $15 million tennis complexes and tutoring centers. Ok.
