Pre-game thread

It's early. I can't sleep and have decided to open a beer and fire up the skillet for a breakfast burrito to prepare for the noon kickoff. Any others out there that can't manage to sleep in? Go Blue!

I am just finishing up the first pot of coffee and,  I think, the third episode of Spongebob. It's a typical pre-game Saturday here. I get the TV at noon.  They get it now.

I like the one specifically because of Mark Mothersbaugh's presence on it. I love myself some  DEVO in the CD collection here.

Later on, we'll likely be switching to "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" and "Pound Puppies", as my daughter can not only tell time already, but has the digital cable schedule memorized.

Among the things I have let the kids watch are episodes of "The Critic",  "Mystery Science Theater", various BBC shows - the one that got me in the most trouble was "Father Ted", because for a few days, my son would not stop quoting Father Jack whenever we gave him a drink - "FECK OFF, CUP!"

I have a 2 year old at home who loves Elmo and some cartoon with a French name (which escapes me)... Anyway, I turned on the TV at like 5-6pm one night and it was still on Cartoon Network.  Let me tell you something - Adventure Time is a freaky cartoon.  I know it's not geared towards 2 year olds, but it is still crazy that it is marketed for kids.  Oh well, I guess we had Ren and Stimpy when I was growing up...

Pretty much the only show I can handle watching with the kids.  I often find myself still watching after they leave the room.

Wifey is out getting a haircut (which I never understand how that takes 4 hours) so I have banished the kids to the basement (8, 6, 3) where they can watch TV and tear shit up while pre-game.  Probably not the best dad on football Saturdays but they know the drill.

My five year old has just started to come downstairs by herself to turn the TV on in the morning, letting my wife and I sleep in. I still didn't sleep in, our Keurig coffee machine is broke and we haven't received our warranty replacement yet. Phineas and Ferb is on though, it's actually a somewhat funny show

I'm so sorry man.  Backyardigans is bad enough--fortunately I never had to endure Barney.  Someone actually gave our daughter a Barney toy for Christmas one year, and my wife and I intercepted it and donated it to Toys for Tots.

There are two full seasons of Shaun the Sheep on Netflix.  It's worth a try to see if that can get you out of hell.

Finishing my pot of coffee now, but sports center is running in the background.  I'm going down to Rex's Meat Market with my neighbor to pick up some burger.  Bar-B-Que right after the game today.  Rex's is in Dearborn...they make the burger for Nemo's.

my dogs woke us up early.  Catching some EPL soccer.  Dreading/looking forward to the days when Dora and Yo Gaba Gaba replace soccer on saturday morning.

Going to head down to Chicago and watch the game with my dad today.  Very excited

...working this morning.  Wife somehow thinks it will be a good idea to head to my 7th grade daughters (potential) Catholic high school open house at 1:00 p.m. (thank god for the DVR).  Yeah, like I'll be listening to anything they're talking about.  It's a reputable high school that honestly I already know she'll be in good hands.  I get it, I'm a bad parent. #hail!
