The Power of Harbaugh in Ann Arbor

Submitted by MGoUberBlue on

I met a 60'ish woman last week who owns a couple of restaurants in the Ann Arbor area.  Her downtown A2 restaurant is open only for breeakfast and lunch, but has a waiting line for breakfast when it opens.  It is well known and does very well financially.

Someone from UM called to inquire whether she would close the restaurant for a sports team, which she rejected immediately.  The caller then advised that it was for Jim Harbaugh and the football team.

Enough said.  She closed her restaurant that morning to treat the football team to a ton of eggs, waffles and any other goodies that they desired.

She was just raving about Jim Harbaugh in our discussion and can't wait to see the team under his direction after she returns from Greece in two months.

That attitude is pretty much typical for residents of this great city.

Go Blue!

EDIT:  Well of course she desired to treat but was fully and rightfully compensated for the treats at fair market value.  Thanks to those who pointed out the clarification.

Let's make sure this isn't some kind of impermissible benefit before posting it on the board. After the last 7 years, I could easily see Harbaugh getting fired before coaching a game or something, and UM hiring Wayne Fontes to replace him... :-/

Wayne Fontes?  You mean the only Detroit Lions coach to win a playoff game since the modern playoff system was instituted in 1967?  That Wayne Fontes?

I was pissed when Fontes was forced out.  He had the stones to try something that was totally different.  It was no accident that Barry Sanders said FTS after one year of the Bobby Ross Paleolithic Offense.  He knew that being a running back for a Ross offense was risking his later quality of life.
